Buying a motorbike in Vietnam – is it still possible for tourists?

With a tourist visa, is it still tolerated in 2026 to buy and sell a small motorbike or scooter (with the green card in the previous owner’s name)?

Hey, If you want to stay legal, no. But you can rent easily, and for the long term, there are quite a few rental places. I also regularly rent a scooter when I'm out and about, from a member or a neighbor at the hotel, no paperwork, but they always ask to see my Vietnamese license.
