Where to stay in Ikaria?

Hi there, I’m heading to the Greek island of Ikaria for two months and I’m looking for any tips or advice—especially on budget-friendly accommodation options like a room to rent or staying with locals. Thanks!

Hi Elenitsa, I’m heading there from August 25th to October 20th. Of course, I’d like to visit different parts of the island, but mostly I’d love to settle somewhere quiet and charming. A room for rent with a local would be perfect for me.

"Cheap" is gonna be tricky. I don’t think anyone on this forum has a room to offer. You’ll need to check out Airbnb and similar sites. Or look at Facebook groups that post listings, like this one: https://www.facebook.com/groups/642743148888620/ Also take a look at sites like: https://www.spitogatos.gr/enoikiaseis-katoikies/ikaria But I’m not sure if you can rent for a short period like yours. I'm a little bit anxious now, because when I decided to go to Ikaria, I never imagined it would be so expensive...I hope to find a good address when I will arrive to Ikaria.

There’s no guarantee you’ll find affordable accommodations once you’re there. You’ll need to rely on word of mouth by asking shopkeepers if they know anyone renting a room for the duration of your stay.
