List of certified Egyptologist guides in Egypt

Girodt · 2026-08-02

Is there an official website or list of certified Egyptologist guides in Egypt? And most importantly, what are the normal prices for a full day or half day? There’s so much scamming and crazy pricing—depending on who you contact, it can range from simple to quadruple!!!! Thanks

Hello everyone, No, there isn’t an official public list of Egyptologist guides. Licenses are under the authority of the Ministry of Antiquities and Tourism. There’s the General Syndicate of Tourist Guides (EGTGS). Prices can vary—it depends on your expectations and what you want to do, so compare guides for the same request, and even then, there’ll be differences, just like here—it’s rare to find shops or guides charging the same price for the same thing. Half-day, full-day, or per visit—just note that a "full day" doesn’t mean 24 hours; it’s from the opening to the closing of the sites, and not all sites in Egypt close at the same time. Oh, and yes, I know several of them. Have a great day! Thoutmosis
