Looking for a female travel companion for a cycling trip – Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina

Looking for a female travel companion for a cycling trip (arriving by plane in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and cycling toward Montevideo, Uruguay, returning by plane to France from Buenos Aires, Argentina) – 1,500 km

Hello everyone! I’m planning a cycling trip across Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina, with a departure set for late October, November, or December. I’m looking for a travel companion to share this long-distance adventure with.

Experience: I already have solid experience in bicycle touring in Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Currently, I maintain excellent physical condition by cycling an average of 250 km over 3 days per week (4 hours a day at 20 km/h).

The trip & the pace:

Daily pace: Between 50 and 80 km per day, to make steady progress while taking time to explore. Accommodation: Flexible and authentic. We’ll alternate between wild camping, campsites, Warmshowers, small guesthouses, and budget hotels depending on opportunities and the weather.

Looking forward to reading your message and planning this amazing journey together!

Hi Hamid,

Just in case you don’t find anyone to join you for this stretch, you should know there are Facebook groups and forums dedicated to cycling trips around the world.

I think if you join them, you can post an announcement.

Looking for a travel companion (male or female) for cycling – Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina

Hi there, Are you looking for a male or female travel companion? I’ve always traveled alone, but my plan to cycle through South America in October 2024 fell through halfway in the USA. Your post still interests me if it’s still relevant!

Hi there! No worries, I’m still looking for 2 more people. With 4 of us, I think we’ll be great for the trips and Airbnb stays.

I’ve mapped out this route: depart from Europe, arrive in Brazil (Porto Alegre), cycle to Montevideo (Uruguay), then take the ferry to Buenos Aires (Argentina), and fly back to Europe. I said *Europe* because I’m not sure which city offers the best flight deals—maybe starting from Portugal to South America would be cheaper.

I saw you’ve traveled a lot, so you might be able to help find info on flights and accommodation too! See you soon, Hamid

Hi Hamid,

Given the current geopolitical conflicts around the world, flying is a huge budget item for traveling. Yes, I’ve been traveling a lot by bike since I retired—no constraints, so no return date and no planning. I never know where I’ll sleep in the evening. I have a tent with me, and if I’m tired, I just find a quiet spot for the night without looking for the best place!

Thanks for your reply, and I hope you find people interested in your project. Arbia.
