Gourgs Blancs Pass to Portillon Refuge from La Soula

Maquessou · 2026-08-14

Hi there, I’m planning to cross the Gourgs Blancs Pass at the end of the month, from La Soula Refuge to Portillon Refuge. On this section near the pass, I don’t have any trail marked on my IGN map. Is the path well signposted, or should I use a compass? Also, beyond the physical effort, are there any technical, exposed, or vertigo-inducing sections on this part? Since I’m finding very little info, I’m being thorough with my questions.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

hi

maybe you’ll find something here:

and here:

be careful—two days ago, an experienced mountaineer died in this area after slipping on the east ridge of Pic des Spigeoles.
