Danube Drought: Cruise Changes with Bus Transfers

We're leaving on August 25th for a Danube cruise from Vienna to Bucharest. The travel agency refuses to postpone this cruise despite navigation changes due to the exceptional drought, which include bus transfers that don’t interest us. Have you had any experiences with this that you’d like to share?

I guess all of this is covered in the terms and conditions, and there’s not much we can do about it...

This happened a few years ago to a couple I know. They were living on the boat and doing excursions by coach, sometimes with long bus rides. It had nothing to do with a cruise anymore.

This seems like a major change to your itinerary. On top of the general terms and conditions, check with your legal support to know your rights and what you can do.

A company's general terms and conditions can't override federal laws, at least not in Switzerland. There's a federal law on package travel.

In Switzerland, the Federal Act on Package Travel (LVF) of June 18, 1993 (RS 944.3) protects consumers who purchase a trip combining at least two services (transport, accommodation, etc.) for a global price.

Check articles 8 and 9 on service modifications and refunds.

I don’t know about France, but there’s definitely something in place there too ;)

Hi there, did you end up taking this cruise, and if so, under what conditions? We’re supposed to go on a Danube, Rhine, and Main cruise with Croisieurope on October 22nd—Budapest, Vienna, etc. Haven’t heard anything from our travel agency or Croisieurope yet.
