Try the historic center: Schönbrunn Palace, the Hofburg, St. Stephen's Cathedral, and the Belvedere.

Hi there,
Since I arrived by overnight train from Paris, I hadn’t rented a car, but everything is easily doable on foot or by public transport. A stroll through the city center offers so much to see: museums, churches, squares, government buildings, the Kaiser’s apartments, giant statues, gardens, fountains, courtyards and back courtyards, carriage gates... and don’t forget to look up at the beautiful Art Nouveau façades!
I took advantage of the "hop-on hop-off" bus to visit Schönbrunn Palace.
I visited the Belvedere to admire some paintings by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Manet, David, and other Austrian artists in Prince Eugene of Savoy’s palace.
To return to the city center, I passed by the French Embassy—a stunning Art Nouveau building. Wandering through the alleys of Naschmarkt, Vienna’s most famous market dating back to the 16th century, was a highlight. Many restaurants were already packed by 10:30 AM! You’ll find fruits and vegetables, cheeses, cold cuts, spices, seafood, sweets, and plenty of Mediterranean products.
And of course, treat yourself to a Sachertorte and a Wiener Schnitzel!
