Humanitarian aid in Francophone Africa

I’m a retired teacher looking for a 6-month mission (December 2026 to May 2027) in Francophone Africa. Being housed in the center would be a plus for me. I have experience in Haiti and especially in Cameroon. I’m financially independent. Thank you.

hi Pierre, I’ll point you toward a resource for your search: https://www.agirabcd.eu/776_p_57317/missions-dans-le-monde.html If you don’t find what you’re looking for and you’d like to help in Mauritania, I can put you in touch with two schools in Nouakchott that would probably be thrilled to have you... Best regards,

Hi Townes,

Your request comes at just the right time: we’re looking for exactly the kind of profile you have, and we can host you from December 2026 to May 2027.

I represent AHTE-TOGO (Association Humanitaire Terre d'Espoir du Togo), a humanitarian association based in Tsévié, 35 km from Lomé. It’s officially registered in Togo (receipt No. 0310) and referenced on the European Commission’s Erasmus+ / European Solidarity Corps platform (OID E10437046).

- Accommodation provided: you’d be housed directly at our headquarters, right in the heart of our activities, with the on-site team. - A meaningful 6-month mission that matches your experience: pedagogical support and training for our Togolese facilitators, adult literacy and education (especially for women), and structuring our educational programs. - A Francophone, stable, and welcoming country, very similar to what you experienced in Cameroon. - A European contact: our international coordination is based in Belgium and can answer all your questions before departure.

You can explore our work in pictures: Website: https://ahte-togo.org (photo gallery and online pre-registration) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/18gTLXdcqF/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ahte_togo/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/ahte-togo/

Email: infos@ahte-togo.org WhatsApp: +228 92 44 68 06

I’ll also send you a private message. We’d be truly happy to have you join us in Tsévié.

Best regards, "Acting for Hope and Dignity"

Hello and thank you for your reply. I taught mathematics for 40 years in Lyon at Catholic schools under a state association contract. That’s all I’ve done, and only in grades 6, 7, 8, and 9. You’re looking for someone capable of: "pedagogical support and training for our Togolese facilitators, adult literacy (especially for women), and structuring our educational programs." But I’ve never trained other teachers, I did a bit of literacy work at a center in Baham, Cameroon without knowing the learning techniques, and as for structuring programs—???? All this to say that your request doesn’t match what I know how to do, and that’s really frustrating. If you know of any organizations that might be a better fit for me, please don’t hesitate. I remain at your disposal. Pierre

Hello Pierre, You’ll be very welcome at the AHTE-TOGO association. We’d be delighted to welcome you and to let you put your experience and skills to work for the children. We also partner with several schools, from primary to middle school, where you’ll be able to fully practice your teaching profession and share your know-how with the students. In addition, we regularly organize after-school tutoring sessions at the association’s headquarters to support struggling children and help them gradually improve their level. Your presence will also give you the opportunity to discover and take part in our other projects, particularly those for street children, as well as our animation, awareness-raising, and child support activities. We’d be thrilled to have you join us and to share this human and educational experience together. So we can easily exchange and start preparing for your arrival and the details of your participation in our activities, we invite you to write to us directly at our email address: infos@ahte-togo.org. That way, we can take the time to chat with you, answer your questions, and see together how best to organize your stay and your mission within the association. Looking forward to welcoming you soon in Togo and at AHTE-TOGO.
