Namibia Safari: Book on the country's animals?

Could someone recommend a good book to help me recognize the animals I’ll come across in Namibia???

Yeah, there are tons of books on animals, especially Struik editions about Southern Africa, which includes Namibia:

I had one for birds: *Birds of Southern Africa*, third edition (it's the reference for the region).

For mammals: *A FIELD GUIDE TO THE MAMMALS OF SOUTHERN AFRICA*, 3rd Edition by Chris & Tilde Stuart.

There's a small book in French by Caroline Oriol, *Guide pratique de la faune Namibienne* (Practical Guide to Namibian Wildlife), published by Caroline Oriol, P.O. Box 40742, Windhoek, Namibia. It's from 2003. We found it in France at a travel bookstore. Have a great trip!

For birds, the go-to book is *Sasol, "Birds of Southern Africa"*, published by Struik. For trees, *"Trees of Southern Africa"*, from the same publisher. For mammals, *"Signs of the Wild"* by Clive Walker, also from Struik. It includes a distribution map, photo, track shape and size, and droppings for each mammal. It’s truly excellent. I bought mine in Windhoek. There are two very large bookstores downtown—one in the Kalahari Sand Hotel mall and another nearby, on a street perpendicular to Independence Avenue.

Or there’s a very simple leaflet on Etosha that, in addition to giving you a map of the park with water points, lists the main animals you’ll come across on your route.

In Windhoek, there’s a small but well-stocked bookshop right across from the tourist office on a street parallel to Independence Ave. Highly recommend it!
