😉Nous envisageons de partir du 06 au 18 Mai 2005 à l'hotel Meerufenfushi

Pouvez me donner quelques précisions sur cette hotel? At'il subi des dégats suite au tsunami...

Avez vous des infos sur le climat...en cette période? Les sites méteo parlent de précipitations assez importantes ??? Est ce qu'il pleut toute la journée ou deux à trois heures dans la journée? Vos témoignages sont les bienvenues

quelle bonne idée, tu as de la chance, j'y étais l'année passée mais un mois plus tôt, sur 7 jours nous avons eu un jour de pluie très arrosé ! mais le temps est très aléatoire... si tu veux plus d'info il y a le site de l'île www.meeru.com sinon en ce qui concerne le tsunami, l'île a été touchée sur la partie est, il n'y a eu que des dégâts matériels, l'île n'a jamais été fermée au tourisme. Ils ont besoin de nous, il faut y aller !!! si je retrouve le courrier qu'ils m'avaient envoyé à ce sujet je te le ferais passer.

I appreciate your patience in awaiting my reply.

Your expression of concern and sympathy for those who have suffered from this calamity is much appreciated.

Please allow me to provide you an accurate, timely update of the current situation.

First, we have been feet on the ground since the first tidal wave passed through the Maldives, this past Sunday morning, and are very grateful that our guests and staff at Meeru suffered only relatively minor cuts, scrapes and a few sprains.

Everyone pulled together, in challenging circumstances, and are to be commended.

Given the circumstances, most Tour Operators chose to evacuate their guests, and so from what was a full hotel of 550 guests last Sunday, there now remain about 60 guests, tonight, Monday.

As you may understand, the Maldives islands are in some ways much similar to a cruise ship, in that we are totally self sufficient.

We make our own water using the reverse osmosis process; we generate our power; we have our own sewage treatment plant; and we store enough food and beverage for a month's needs, and that takes into account the more than 550 staff working and living on Meeru.

We have our own satellite link to provide internet access, and the local telephone company provides service based on radio link.

We did lose most telecommunications for two days, however by Tuesday, much had returned to normal. Actually, mobile phones from Europe were used by some guests throughout this time to remain in touch, although lack of communication caused much anxiety to many loved ones at home who didn't know what was really happening, here.

The 4-5 foot tidal wave which came from the East, had enough power to damage some of the guest rooms on the East side of the island. The 29 Water Villas had their balcony floated away, the front of the room caved in (it is basically glass panels with wooden frame), and the floor boards "popped" up (they were nailed down). These rooms will remain out of order until repaired, which will take several months. As well, some of the Land Villas on the same East side, had the front of the room caved in, and will be quickly and "quietly" repaired (basically just replacing glass panel doors).

So, we have much for which to be grateful.

Everything else is back to normal "as usual".

In fact, the new Meeru Village Jacuzzi Water Villas, and the adjacent Malaan Restaurant and Uthuru Bar have been opened since last night, delayed from this past Monday.

So, all of us here, have worked hard to "clean up", and believe that all is in good order.

Do not worry, we wouldn't mislead you!

J'ai contacté l'hotel qui m'a dit que le mois de Mai était Ok mais je n'imaginais pas une autre réponse...Business is business
