Travailler en tant que chauffeur poids lourds en Caroline du Sud

Je me renseigne depuis quelques mois déjà au sujet de l'accort de réciprocité qui existe entre quelques états américain et la France. J'aimerais travailler en tant que chauffeur poids lourds en Caroline du Sud, cet état est dans la liste des états qui ont un accort de réciprocité avec la France. Je suis chauffeur poids lourds ici en France, j'ai les permis C et EC. Je me suis rendu au DMV en Caroline du Sud en octobre 2009, une personne du service m'a dit que c'était possible. Ce que je n'arrive pas à savoir (en ayant contacté de multiples interlocuteurs) c'est comment se passe le fameux échange? Personne ne semble vraiment au courant... Y'a-t-il un test? En quoi consiste-t-il? Bref je recherche quelqu'un qui aurait effectué cette démarche et qui pourrait m'apporter des réponses...😉

es tu resident dans cet Etat? (visa ou green card ou citizen).

si oui: vas sur le site du DMV de ton etat, et ils disent quels papiers apportes pour 'echanger' ton permis (exemple: carte de securite sociale US, passeport, visa, preuve de domicile etc)... certains demandent aussi une lettre du consulat: l'Illinois echange le permis, mais il faut aller au consulat francais qui fait une verification comme quoi tu as bien ton permis encore valide en France, te fait une lettre qu'il faut remettre au DMV. chaque etat a une pratique differente: certains c'est un 'echange', d'autres tu repasses le code, d'autres tu repasses code et conduite...

si non: tu ne pourras pas obtenir un permis US

Non je ne suis pas résident là-bas, je vis encore en France ! Mais je sais déjà qu'il faut être résident là-bas pour avoir le permis US, notemment avoir carte de sécurité sociale, passeport, visa, justificatif de domicile... La dame du DMV m'a donner les papiers tout y est marqué ! Par contre saurais-tu à tout hasard comment cela se passe en Caroline du Sud? Car je vois que tu es au courant pour l'illinois ! Et sais-tu si l'on peut travailler provisoirement avec le permis internationnal? Car mes permis poids lourds sont validés sur mon permis internationnal... Merci par avance.

pour etre resident, il te faut soit un visa, soit une green card...

et tu ne peux travailler que si tu as un visa de travail ou une green card; le permis de conduire international (+ ton permis francais) peut te servir le temps que tu fasses le permis de Caroline du Sud (tu as droit a 3 mois de conduite aux US sans le permis de conduire americain).

Ok ben j'espère que quelqu'un pourra me dire alors pour la Caroline du Sud ! Merci en tout cas pour ta réponse c'est bon à savoir pour le permis internationnal ! Le plus dur sera de trouver une boite qui me sponsorise pour le visa...😕

en fait c'est ca le plus important: trouver un employeur qui te sponsorise pour le visa...🙂 le permis de conduire sera ensuite une 'simple' formalite...crois moi😉

International Customers Who are not US Citizens: International customers are citizens of US protectorates, immigrants, refugees, asylees, and other non-immigrants who are granted temporary entry into the United States. International customers who are not US citizens can only obtain a SC driving credential or ID at one of the following service centers:

All persons authorized by the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, or the U.S. Department of State to live, work, or study in the United States on a temporary or permanent basis will be eligible to apply for a beginner's permit, driver's license or identification card.

The expiration date of the driver’s license will be determined by the applicant's authorized period of stay in the United States or the expiration date of the applicant's employment authorization document, but will not exceed 5-years.

Applications for beginner permits, driver’s licenses and identification cards for International customer will be accepted at sixteen of our DMV offices across the state. To apply for a South Carolina credential, all International customers who are not US citizens must provide the following each time they apply for an original, renewal or duplicate credential:Proof of Identity (SC Code Section 56-1-80 and 56-1-90(2)) Proof of Date and Place of birth (SC Code Section 56-1-80 and 56-1-90(2)) Current authorization to live, work or study in the U.S. (SC Code Section 56-1-40(7) and 56-1-80) Social Security Card or Letter from the Social Security Administration stating that the applicant is not allowed to work in the United States (SC Code Section 56-1-90) Proof of SC residency (SC Code Section 56-1-40(7) and Section 56-1-80(3)) Automobile liability insurance information (if applying for a driver’s license) (SC Code Section 56-1-80(C))At the time of application, all applicants must provide proper documentation to prove that the US Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State or the US Citizenship and Immigration Services authorizes them to live, work or study in the United States on a temporary or permanent basis, and that they are within their current authorized period of stay, depending on current immigration and visa status.

Form MV-94 International Customer Checklist for Issuance of Driver’s License, Beginner’s Permit and Identification cards lists the documentation requirements for each of the areas listed above for the most common immigration and visa statuses.

If your name has changed since birth, you must provide all legal documents (adoption records, marriage certificate, certificate of naturalization, court ordered name change) supporting all name changes from birth to present.

If your documents are not in English, a qualified translator must translate them and the translated documents presented must be original. A qualified translator is a person who routinely translates documents from another language into English as part of his or her work responsibilities. Examples of a qualified translator include: professor or instructor at an area college, university or high school who is authorized to teach a specific language; a person from a company or corporation who is authorized to translate corporate documents by the company; a translator certified to do translations professionally.

Applicants applying for a driver’s license must also submit a valid driver’s license from their country of origin as proof of prior driving experience. A qualified translator must also translate a driver's license unless an International Driving Permit accompanies the license. Applicants who cannot show proof of prior driving experience must first obtain a beginner’s permit and hold it for 180 days before applying for a driver’s license.

Once international customer applicants have presented acceptable documentation at one of the sixteen international customer-processing centers, they are eligible to receive a temporary 60-day paper credential. This paper document will authorize them to drive while their documentation is being verified in our central headquarters. Applicants with a temporary paper credential must also carry with them at all times their immigration documents, including passport or other immigration document displaying the applicant’s photograph, name and date of birth.

If DMV central headquarters can verify all the documentation submitted by the applicant, a photo credential with an expiration date based on the authorized period of stay will be mailed to the applicant.

Countries and Territories that have Reciprocity with South Carolina : South Carolina waives the requirement for knowledge and skills testing for first time applicants from those countries that have established a formal reciprocity agreement with South Carolina, as long as the applicant’s out-of-country driving credential has not expired.

For a country to establish reciprocity with South Carolina, the Department must receive a formal request from that country or the consulate for that country. At the present time, ONLY the following countries have formal reciprocity agreements with South Carolina.

International customers from Canada, France, Germany and Mexico, as well as from the Protected Territories, must follow the same application process as other International customers.

Oui je sais que ce n'est qu'une simple formalité pour le permis voiture...Une amie de ma femme lui a dit pareil, elle a vécu quelques années aux USA car elle avait gagné la green card !

Pour le texte du DMV merci !!🙂 Par contre je vois qu'il n'y a pas d'échange pour les permis poids lourds (commercial vehicules) ? Donc pas de possibilité de travailler comme routier en arrivant sur le territoire américain?

deja, c'est le visa qui te permet de travailler sur le sol US😉; ensuite il faudra chercher les infos sur le permis poids lourd (sur le site du DMV tu dois avoir les infos); mais si tu obtiens un visa de travail (pour etre honnete, ca ne va pas etre facile du tout! 😕 ce genre de travail peut tres bien etre fait par un americain...et ton employeur risque d'avoir du mal a prouver a l'immigration qu'un americain ne peut pas faire ce job, et qu'il a donc besoin de toi😕), je pense que ton employeur devrait etre capable de te fournir les infos sur ce permis😉

Le problème n'est pas d'accepter le permis français mais tout simplement d'accepter le ...Français😕
