Looking for a Georgian Assimil course
Nomisnanoc · 2011-07-27
Hey everyone,
I’m heading to Georgia for a month in October. I’m currently looking for a Georgian Assimil course, but it seems like it’s no longer published. I’ve scoured the internet but can’t find a used one. So my questions are:
- Do you know where I might find a used one somewhere?
- Do you know of a nice equivalent to Assimil for Georgian?
It’s just to get a few basic phrases, be able to read some signs, etc., because with only English and French, I think I might be a bit stuck sometimes.
Thanks!
simon

I had looked for the Georgian Assimil before my trip, but with no more success than you. Couldn’t find it anywhere.
I ended up settling for *Parlons géorgien* published by L’Harmattan, but it’s really not great. Very disorganized—you won’t learn the basics with that.
In the end, to learn the alphabet, the few tips you can find in travel guides are enough.

Hey,
Thanks so much for your replies. After thinking it over, I’ll just stick with the basics in my guidebook plus a few bits and pieces I’ve picked up here and there online. Anyway, since I’m leaving in October and don’t have endless time, I don’t think I’ll be able to learn much more.
See you soon, safe travels.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's just a book without a CD, disk, or cassette.
And I’d recommend learning Russian instead—it’ll come in handy: everyone speaks Russian.

Hi Tamuna,
I’m about to head to Georgia for work, and I’m also looking for the Assimil "Pocket Georgian" book. Do you still have it, and would you be willing to sell it to me?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Good evening,
Unfortunately, I no longer have it. One of my friends took it, and I haven’t heard from her since. I’m really sorry, but if I can help in any other way, I’m here.
Best regards,
