Looking for tickets to Rio Carnival

Marineeb · 2018-11-05

Hello everyone!

A group of friends and I are heading to Brazil in March 2019 and we’d love to attend the Carnival parade. I could really use your help because I’m struggling to find reviews for online ticket sellers for Carnival. I came across rio-carnival—is this a reliable agency? Do you have other agencies to recommend or experiences to share? Any advice is welcome.

Thanks! 🙂 Marine

The ideal would be to buy them on-site. The rio-carnival website, which seems to be the official one, looks great to me—the prices are very reasonable. The average price is around 60-70 € for grandstand seats, and in my opinion, all the grandstands are good. Sunday and Monday are the best days. The hardest part is being able to watch all 6 samba groups that parade each night—nearly 12 hours in the stands is long!

Hi, Thanks for your feedback 😉. Since it might be too late once we're there, I’d rather play it safe and buy them in advance, even if it means paying a bit more. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to attend the Sunday and Monday parades, so we’ll be there for the Saturday night parade—the winners’ one. I hope it’ll be just as good.

Saturday’s parades are definitely good, but the difference is that the top 12 groups perform on Sunday and Monday, while Saturday’s groups are a bit less well-known. That’s why tickets are usually more in the 20 €–30 range.

We’re actually going to the Saturday, March 9, 2019 parade—it looks like the six big winners will be parading again; they call it the "Champions Parade." I’ve heard there won’t be a jury this time since the winners are already decided. We’ll see… I’ll post an update when we get back from the trip.

Hi Nadia, We attended Rio Carnival in February 2018. We bought our tickets before leaving, from France. The online agency we used is TicketRio. This agency is completely reliable. The staff on site are welcoming and give great tips. Best regards.

Hi Nadia, For the tickets, I went for safety and simplicity and used rio-autentico.com. Axel, who’s French, took care of everything, and when we arrived, the tickets were waiting for us at the hotel reception. If you have any other questions about the carnival or anything else, don’t hesitate! ;)

Thanks Marine for this info. Have you visited the areas around Rio? If so, I’d love some tips because we’re hesitating about staying the whole week in Rio. Have a great day! Nadia

Hi there, I’m digging up this old post about Rio Carnival. I’d like to book a seat in a box—can anyone tell me if row D is okay? I’d like some distance but not too much. Thanks
