Hi, I’m planning a trip to Mexico in spring 2019. Has anyone here done it before, and if so, which tour operator did you use? What’s the climate like during that time? Thanks for your tips! Looking forward to hearing from you! 😊

I did it on my own, but I saw there are French receptive operators in Mexico offering guided tours. Just search on your search engine; it should come up.

Oh yes, lots of links, but that's not what I'm looking for. We'd like to take an organized trip from France for 15 to 18 days, traveling from Mexico City to Cancun, but there are a lot of buses and I don’t know the road conditions.🙁

The roads in QUINTANA ROO are good roads—those are the only ones I know.

Road conditions like in France. Depending on your budget, all options are available. I see all proposals: flight, transfer, tour, guide, chauffeur. What more do you need? You should ask for quotes and tell them what you want. It’s a question of euros and availability (minimum 3 weeks). If the local agents don’t seem reliable, check with the big chains. Just keep in mind that they delegate to local agents anyway, so you might as well go directly with them.

The roads from Mexico City to Cancun are good. Sure, the trip is long, but there are countless things to discover. I live here, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

If you live in Mexico, put Mexico instead of France—it’ll be clearer!

I'd love to, but he's not responding. I know a private guide who knows the country very well, has a great reputation, and is also renowned for wildlife. So, if you see this message and want to discover an authentic Mexico far from mass tourism, contact me.

You’ll run into the same issue in Cuba—finding a French-speaking guide. Back then, I turned to the Alliance Française, but that was in 2004, already 😅.

Hi there,

For Cuba, I can recommend Onel (onelfb@nauta.cu) – Havana. He speaks French really well and can organize visits and excursions for you on the spot.

Thanks Petinka, I’m looking into it based on your reply, but I’ve had to delay my trip a bit because of my passport renewal (the wait times are super long, and they can’t give me a precise delivery date—so not cool...) Have a great evening and thanks for your kindness.

Hi Matnat,

I get you. We used to travel on our own too. Back when my wife and I were young and free 😏. But with age and kids, we’ve gotten into the habit of using local agencies now—if only for lack of time. Anyway, we went to Mexico with a local agency from the Terres des Voyageurs network (www.terresdesvoyageurs.com).

Hope that helps for the future.

Have a great day
