Problem with the Ocean Jet website?

Floflo1 · 2020-01-02

Hi,

I’m trying to check the Ocean Jet website for schedules and fares, but I can’t get any timetables to show up. It’s not easy to know whether to book in advance or buy tickets last minute... Not even sure if they run the Dumaguete-Tagbilaran route.... It seems like they do, but there’s not much info. Has anyone heard anything?

Thanks in advance if you’ve got any tips! Flo

Yeah, the site’s pretty crappy. I always book my ticket one day before at an agency.

Happy New Year, Raph. You're right, this site is terrible.

Glad you both confirmed that this site is terrible!

I’ll buy my ticket on the spot like you do. When you mention an agency, you mean the little Ocean Jet agency near Dumaguete port. We bought our tickets there last year to go to Siquijor.

Can you confirm there’s still a Dumaguete-Tagbilaran route? It seems like there is based on what we see on the site... but well...

Thanks and happy New Year to you both!

Yes, I can confirm for OceanJet, Dumaguete to Tagbilaran. In Cebu, I buy my ticket at the SM mall. Otherwise, yes, the small OceanJet agency. All travel agencies can sell you tickets.

I buy my tickets in advance to have peace of mind—I go for Business Class so I don’t have to pay for baggage and, most importantly, don’t have to check it in if it’s not too bulky—less time wasted for just a few extra euros. I’ve taken 4 ferry trips—the open-air section is almost empty, and Business is only 30% full or less—so last-minute purchases are low-risk. But the ticket-buying queue can be pretty long, then there’s another queue to pay the terminal usage fee, and finally one for check-in and another for baggage drop-off—so plan enough time if you’re buying last-minute. I bought my tickets at the counter at the ferry terminal.
