A great book to (re)discover Barcelona

Hi, I just finished reading Lettres de Barcelone by Caroline Leblanc. It's a collection of letters without a recipient that the author wrote during her 3 years of expatriation in Barcelona. So it's an inside look at the city, off the beaten path, even though the major tourist spots are also part of the scenery. It's full of humor, very open to current events, the history of the city, Catalonia, and Spain. I really enjoyed it. 🙂

Hi, noted and considering it for my next read. Since I often walk through Barcelona without stopping (from one station to another), this should enrich my imagination during those trips and maybe even make me want to stay a few days (despite the tourist overcrowding).

Hi, noted and considered for my next read. Since I often cross Barcelona on foot without stopping (from one station to another), this should enrich my imagination during those trips and maybe even make me want to stop for a few days (despite the tourist overcrowding).

This read brought back feelings I’d already experienced when visiting Barcelona (a long time ago). I’m really wondering what the best times are to visit this kind of city to avoid mass tourism. Definitely more on weekdays than weekends, and probably during the winter months. I imagine there are way fewer tourists from Monday to Thursday in January 😉 than on weekends in May.

Yes, the Barcelona of the past that I’ve heard so much about, but which seems a little more hidden today.
