Hi everyone, After finishing the season (gîte on the Compostela trail), it’s our turn to hike! We’re heading to Réunion for 6 weeks, then Mauritius, and maybe Rodrigues. We leave on November 5th. What are the must-do hikes, starting with easy ones to get our legs back in shape (yep, 7 months of inactivity!) and then a bit more challenging, but most importantly, no risk of vertigo. Sorry, that’s just how it is—can’t do it 😅. As for gîtes, should we book a few days in advance, or do we need to plan now? And what about transport? Should we rent a vehicle instead? Booked an Air Mauritius ticket via a flight operated by Air France, but my middle name was shortened to just an initial with "Ms" attached instead of being written as Lalina Alexandra Fernandez. On the ticket, it shows as Lalina Ams Fernandez, even though I booked with the correct name. Apparently, no one can modify the ticket. Do you think this will cause problems?

Bad news: starting October 2025, the Mauritian tourism ministry is introducing a new tax of 3 € per night per traveler, on top of the existing 55 € fee. This could make other destinations like Madagascar—where no tourism tax is charged—more appealing.

Hi there, I bought a ticket for a flight from Toulouse to Mauritius through the Go to Gate agency. The flight leaves Toulouse with Air France, then has a layover in Paris before continuing to Mauritius with Air Mauritius. Unfortunately, I made a typo in my partner’s name. The travel agency won’t correct it, even though Air Mauritius doesn’t see a problem—but they won’t send an email to authorize the change either. They say it’s up to Go to Gate to handle it. Just so you know, the airline can’t modify the name themselves; according to them, it’s Go to Gate’s responsibility to make the change.

What should I do? Thanks so much!
