Family Road Trip from Salt Lake City to Salt Lake City

This time, it's real, concrete stuff.
We’ll be going on a road trip in September this year (if all goes well, yes, I know it’s a bit superstitious, but I can’t help it, especially with the current family circumstances).
There’ll be four of us: my husband, our two grown kids (20 and 24), and me.
The flights aren’t booked yet because I’m still hesitating over the dates (it’s down to a day or two). They should be finalized by the end of this week or sometime next week.
J1 - Friday, August 29: Brussels-SLC via Amsterdam with KLM (I’d love your opinions on this airline since I’ve never flown with them before) – arrival scheduled for early afternoon. As I mentioned in the intro, the departure and return dates aren’t set in stone yet. Normally, we’d leave on August 29, which would mean visiting Moab and Arches. Otherwise, we’d leave on August 30 and stay in SLC. Around SLC, we’d explore the area, but I’ll admit I’m a bit stuck on what to do there.
For the return, we’d leave SLC on Saturday, September 13, or Sunday, September 14. Our youngest starts classes on Monday, September 15, but he doesn’t mind starting a day later.
Some things are already booked and paid for and can’t be changed (or only with difficulty), so please keep that in mind in your comments. 😕
I’d love to hear about your experiences with a few questions:
* Is it too ambitious to include Arches in the road trip? Especially since the drives are long, particularly the Moab-Grand Teton stretch.
* What do you recommend doing around SLC?
* Same for Jackson. We’ve decided to spend two full days there to take a break between the national parks.
* For the return, I was wondering if spending a day in SLC before heading back to Europe might be a good idea.

But here’s the catch—my husband, who’s usually up for anything, doesn’t want to hear about a do-it-yourself trip. From what I’ve gathered, only Namibia allows that if I’m not mistaken. But if it’s possible in Tanzania (or maybe Kenya), I think I could convince him.
Anyway, here’s my first double question—more will probably follow! Can you travel without an agency in Tanzania? If not, which agency would you recommend, given that I live in Belgium?

Visiting Bangkok and Chiang Mai during a short stay

My husband and I are planning a trip to Thailand from January 2 to 10. Departure from Brussels on January 1 – arriving in Bangkok at 6:00 AM on January 2. Departure from Bangkok on January 11 at 2:00 AM, arriving in Brussels at 1:25 PM the same day. For professional and personal reasons, we can’t extend the trip.
I don’t plan on just lounging on a beach in Phuket, so with 9 days on the ground, I know it’s short... But having done this before in Hong Kong and Shanghai, I know it’s doable, refreshing, and enjoyable. We did it with the kids and included a 2- or 3-day stay at Disneyland in each city. Basically, we spent 5-6 days in each city.
Anyway, I’m reaching out because I’ve heard and read so many conflicting opinions that my head is spinning.
Following the saying, "don’t bite off more than you can chew," I’m assuming I should keep it simple. So I’m torn between just Bangkok or Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
If I go with the second option, I’m debating whether to head straight to Chiang Mai on the day we arrive (but given the flight times, we’d lose pretty much the whole day) or spend two days in Bangkok first, then go to Chiang Mai for 3-4 days, and return to Bangkok.

Costa Fascinosa le 3 août vers Istanbul

Il y a deux ans, et oui, déjà!, je m'inscrivais sur ce forum pour y préparer un voyage en Californie. Le voyage est reporté d'année en année mais reste toujours au programme, par contre, c'est pour tout autre chose que je me lance aujourd'hui et que je fais appel à vos bons conseils.
Cet été, nous pensions gentiment partir dans la famille en Italie quand, il y a deux semaines de cela, surfant sur le net je vois passer une publicité pour une croisière Costa de 10 jours au départ de Venise.
Ayant grand besoin de me changer les idées, je plonge et je réserve !!
Nous partirons à quatre : mon mari, mes deux enfants, une fille de 12 ans et un gamin de 8 ans et moi.
Nous avons pris une cabine premium et sommes situés sur le pont 7.
J'ai bien entendu des tonnes de questions. C'est ma première croisière et n'ai jamais pris le moindre renseignement sur ce type de vacances. En outre, compte-tenu du peu de temps qui me reste pour préparer le départ, je vous prie d'avance de me pardonner si je pose des questions redondantes par rapports à d'autres discussions.
Ma première inquiétude : l'arrivée à Venise! Nous remonterons d'Ancône en voiture le samedi matin (jour d'embarquement) et comptons arriver à Venise vers 9-10H. En vous lisant j'ai capté qu'il ne fallait pas arriver trop tard et qu'on recevait, au moment de l'enregistrement, un numéro de passage pour l'embarquement.
Deuxième stress : où se trouve la zone d'enregistrement des bagages? Apparemment elle n'est pas très facile à trouver....
Ah oui! J'ai cru comprendre qu'il y avait un parking Costa mais j'aimerais savoir s'il est facile à trouver et s'il est payant.
Pour les escales, j'ai déjà eu le plaisir de lire certains de vos posts, mais néanmoins j'aimerais que vous éclairiez ma lanterne sur deux petits points :
A Katakalon, je pensais prendre l'excursion Costa pour Olympie, celle avec la course sur le stade pour les enfants. En vous lisant, je remets cette idée en doute. Un guide ne serait-il pas indiqué pour bien comprendre les monuments que nous y verrons? Pensez-vous que les enfants n'arriveront pas à suivre le guide? Que cela les ennuiera?
Par contre, Ephèse, dont on me vante les merveilles, semble être l'excursion à faire avec Costa. J'avoue que le passage par le magasin de cuir me rebute.....
Pour les autres escales, je pense me débrouiller seule. A Bari j'envisage juste une balade sur le bord de mer sans entrer dans la ville, au Pirée, je compte prendre un taxi vers le centre pour visiter l'Acropole et la plaka, à Istanbul et à Dubrovnik me rendre en ville et me balader.
Pour le séjour à bord, je découvre les obligations vestimentaires d'un croisiériste.😎 Une soirée "blanc" , une soirée "Italie" et soirée de Gala.
Tenue de gala, cela veut bien dire : costume-cravate pour ces messieurs? Mon mari va être fou de joie.... 😠
Il faut donc prévoir ces trois types de tenues pour la croisière avec risque de se voir refuser l'entrée du restaurant si on n'est pas habillé conformément au thème ???
Ah oui, le restaurant. Je vois que Costa demande de s'enregistrer pour les repas, nombre à table, type de service. Là, je patauge... Je crois qu'une table à quatre serait le mieux (cela évite d'attendre ou de faire attendre) mais pour le service.... aucune idée
