Hi there. We’ll be in South Africa at the end of February ’26 with a rental car—not a 4x4. What’s the best route between Kosy Bay and the southern part of Kruger Park? Is the Mozambique route via Maputo a good option? What are the formalities for crossing into Mozambique? Is the Kosy Bay area worth a detour? We’ll be entering Kruger from the south for 4 days. Any recommendations for routes/campsites? Lower Sabie, Satara? Do we really need to book accommodations in Kruger in February? And what about safaris? Thanks for your input! Franz

We’re heading out this winter for a month on our first trip to sub-Saharan Africa. Tanzania. Kenya. Uganda? There are two of us couples, pretty independent and well-traveled. I have no idea how to approach this kind of adventure. Could you help me get a clearer picture? We’re looking for authentic destinations without too much mass tourism. A trip to meet people and experience their culture. I’ve been browsing and mostly seeing safaris with crazy prices😡. Anyway, what do you recommend? How to travel: rent a car, rent a 4x4, hire a driver, hire a driver-guide? Our budget isn’t unlimited. How to stay: camping, Booking.com, etc.? Is there room for improvisation? Is traveling safe and accessible? Which region do you think is best for a first-time visit? That’d be great if you could point me in the right direction. January 26th marks my first steps in Africa. I usually organize my trips without any assistance. But for Tanzania-Kenya, I need some advice. There will be 4 adults looking for authenticity over a month. How do we visit southern Kenya and northern Tanzania? Do we need guides? A driver-guide? What are the must-see spots? How do we get around? Rent a car? The cost of safaris seems exorbitant—is it justified? Isn’t there a way to do it with a local guide on foot? Can we improvise once we’re there? Bonjour les randonneurs. Nous partons en couple du 11 au 22 juillet sur les sentiers de l’île de la Réunion avant de nous envoler vers Tana. Nous pensons passer pas mal de temps dans les cirques. J'ai quelques questions, incertitudes.

Les possibilités de randos étant tellement grandes, je n'ai pas envie de me bloquer en réservant les refuges. Je voudrais avoir la liberté de changer mon itinéraire sur le moment, doubler ou au contraire profiter. Les réservations en gîte sont elles obligatoires/conseillées. Y a t'il de l'affluence (risque de refuge complet)? Les refuges offrent -ils comme en Corse la possibilité de louer un matelas et tente? En bref: est-ce que je peux arriver sans réservation et espérer avoir une tente et un matelas n'importe où sur le parc? le bivouac est il autorisé/ interdit/réprimé? Quelle est la t° la nuit, beaucoup de pluie dans Mafate et Cilaos? Je recherche un plan " consignes bagage" pas trop cher. Lokanoo demande 60 euros pour 5 jours/2sacs... C'est trop pour nous.

Merci à tous de vos interventions, nous sommes rassurés. Tita nous a skypé. Demande de contact de sa part pour mieux comprendre ce que nous désirons. Il s'adapte à notre demande. Permet sans frein le paiement en plusieurs fois. Il est très à l'écoute et soucieux de satisfaire nos envies. Il a déjà modifié à plusieurs reprises le parcours. Tout est bien donc.
