65 years old, Montpellier: what if the best trips are still ahead of us?
by Loane1 · 2026-10-01 · 0 replies
Hello,

As a seasoned traveler, I was going to suggest Thailand, but it’s already on your list. Too bad, but since I live in Bordeaux, I’m open to other destinations. I’ll be in Hong Kong from December 31st to January 5th. Like you, I’m looking for friendly, cheerful, and pleasant people—which isn’t always easy to find, unfortunately.

Best, Françoise from Bordeaux

Hi Martine, This is a rare one—someone actually wants to go to Oman, and I’m not available. I’ll be in Colombia until February 7th, then off to Panama for a month. I live in Bordeaux—where do you live? Maybe we could make it work for another trip.

Companion with no time constraints for Peru/Chile

Hi Brigitte, Oops! I’m not an early riser—I prefer small hotels and Airbnbs, not hostels. I’m fine with walking, but no trails. I don’t think we’re a good match. Too bad.

Hi, I’m Françoise, and I’m based in Bordeaux. I’m interested in your trip to South America since I’ll be traveling for two and a half to three months, from December to the end of February, and I’m looking for new horizons. I’m used to traveling independently, and my track record of 46 countries gives me some confidence in getting around. Maybe we could get to know each other. See you soon
Looking for a travel buddy for any destination
by Loane1 · 2025-05-24 · 1 reply
Hello, I travel often, but not as much as I'd like due to a lack of companions. Every winter, I spend two and a half months in the sun to escape the cold. Right now, I'm in Jordan. I'm from Bordeaux and I'm 71 years old. I travel independently using my own means. Looking forward to hearing from you! Best regards, Françoise
Looking for a travel companion this autumn for China
by Loane1 · 2025-04-11 · 1 reply
Hi there, I’m planning to go to China this autumn and I’d love to find travel partners who’ve already been to the country at least once—people who already know how things work in China. Even though I’ve traveled a lot, I don’t feel ready to go on an adventure for my first trip to China without some company. If you’re interested, feel free to get in touch.
Trip to Yunnan, China in November 2025
by Loane1 · 2025-04-05 · 6 replies
Hello,

As a seasoned traveler, I’ve been dreaming of going to China, but I’m worried that November might be a bit late in terms of temperatures—especially since every year, I escape for three months in the sun to avoid our cold winters.

Would early November or late November be better?

Best, Françoise from Bordeaux
Looking for travel companion(s) December 2024
by Loane1 · 2024-11-08 · 0 replies
Hi Cécile, I’m also looking for travel companions for this winter. I’d love to go to Colombia—I’m not really drawn to New Zealand. I’ve been to quite a few countries. I’m the same age and live in Bordeaux. Maybe we could chat about it? See you soon, maybe. Françoise
Looking for travel companion(s) for Colombia this winter
by Loane1 · 2024-11-07 · 2 replies
Hello, I’m looking for someone—or why not form a small, easygoing, cheerful group of people aged 60 or over—to travel to Colombia this winter. My preferred dates are around December 12th through February (flexible). I’d like to head north, or even further if we have time. I travel with a suitcase, taking it easy in mid-range hotels, Airbnbs, or better depending on prices and local transport—buses, trains, taxis, etc. Anyone interested? Gentlemen are welcome as long as they’re not looking for a romantic adventure—you’ve been warned! ;) I live in Bordeaux. Françoise

Walks in the Kingdom of Siam
by Loane1 · 2018-09-09 · 2 replies
Hi there, I’m trying to follow your trip, but it’s tough because you don’t mention the cities you pass through or the hotels where you stay. Too bad! We spotted a place that seems interesting—kind of off the tourist highway—but it requires a several-hour bus ride first. At the bus station, we still have to take a local bus for a good hour. You know, the kind with barely any shock absorbers and fans instead of air conditioning. But it’s always a totally exotic experience. I mean, the fare is only 25 baht for two people for a trip of several dozen kilometers.

This bus drops us off in a village by the side of the road, but the problem is the hotel’s phone number is either wrong or no one answers. No big deal, though—the man we buy a drink from takes care of us and even gets help from the little vendor next door.

So we arrive without any issues at a huge property bought over twenty years ago by a super-rich Thai man, who decided to turn it into a peaceful haven for elephants that had known a life of suffering. He bought his first elephant from a poor man who was dragging it through the streets of Bangkok. The animal found part of its food in the nearby dump.
Aller en Thaïlande sans visa
by Loane1 · 2015-11-02 · 4 replies
