Hello, I’m preparing for a Tunisia-Algeria road trip. I need to know if we can cross the Sahara to reach Djanet and Tamanrasset by road freely, After that, obviously off-road in the desert with a guide. What do the authorities say? My trip: northern and southern Tunisia, a stroll in the desert. Crossing the Tunisia-Algeria border via the Taleb Larbi customs. I’ve already done this route through an agency, but this time we want to do it on our own. Then heading down to Djanet for eight to fifteen days in the desert with Mouloud, a local guide. Direction Tamanrasset: road and tracks, the mountains of the Assekrem, the Hermitage of Père de Foucauld. Return via the Trans-Saharan Highway. Visit to northern Algeria, then back by boat from Oran to Spain. Dates: late December to mid-February. We’ve got plenty of time. If another crew is interested, we’re already two vehicles. Hi there, I’m heading to Kruger Park for 4 days in May 2026. Departing from Paris → Skukuza via JNB on Air France. Here’s what’s worrying me: my flight lands (in theory) at JNB at 8:30 AM (Terminal A), then I’ve got a JNB → Skukuza departure at 10:05 AM (Terminal B). That leaves me with 1 hour and 35 minutes to make the connection and clear customs. I don’t have any checked luggage—just carry-on. I called Air France, and they said it’s doable (in theory) with a minimum connection time of 1 hour 30 minutes (which is why they sold the ticket), but I’ll need to move quickly. From your experience, is this realistic in practice? Can I ask customs officers to let me through as a priority? (I’ve got my flight ticket to show.) Thanks for your insights! Serge

I’m planning a trip to Uzbekistan—details still up in the air (8–10 days)—but I’d love to combine it with a stop in Kazakhstan at Mangystau (5–7 days).

One of my main reasons for traveling is to seek out and photograph deserts, especially dramatic landscapes. Mangystau fits the bill perfectly!

Hi there, For our upcoming trip to Central Asia starting on July 7th, we have two spots available in our car with a French-speaking driver. We’ll depart from Almaty in Kazakhstan, visiting the Charyn Canyon, then the Kolsay and Kayindy lakes. After crossing the border into Kyrgyzstan, our itinerary in this nomadic country includes Karakol, Djety Oguz, and the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul: Skazka Canyon, Barskoon Gorges... all the way to Lake Song-Kul, where we’ll take a rest day to enjoy the surroundings. Hi there, I’m planning a road trip in a rental car in Paraguay. During this trip, I’d also like to cross the border to visit Iguazu Falls (both the Argentine and Brazilian sides), which are just a few kilometers from the Paraguayan border. The issue is that rental car agencies don’t allow crossing borders. So my question is: is it easy, possible, and safe to leave the rental car for 2 or 3 days in Paraguay and cross the border from Ciudad del Este? What’s the best way to get around (bus, taxi)? Our top picks:

- Favignana (by far the highlight of the trip) - The temples in Agrigento - Palermo - The food here is amazing

No real disappointments, but Erice didn’t quite live up to expectations, and we were frustrated by the car rental prices.

Side note: make sure to specify that your card is a *credit* card (not debit). Ours was a deferred debit card, and our bank had the sense to label it "credit card"—otherwise, you’d be on the hook for an extra 200 €... those Southern Italians!

Our trip to Puglia left a bitter taste—between the trash, privatized beaches, and relentless heat.

But on our way home, a short stop in Tuscany reconciled us with Italy.

This new summer, we’ve decided to add this beautiful region to our itinerary!

As usual for relatively nearby destinations, we’ll be driving via the Col de la Lombarde on the way there and Mont Cenis Pass on the way back.

A chance to kill two birds with one stone: one trip, multiple landscapes crossed.

For our Tuscan stay, we’ve chosen a house tucked away in the Chianti vineyards.

Peace and quiet, barely disturbed by the occasional wild boar or deer!

You’ve probably gathered that we won’t be sightseeing fanatics, even if classics like Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Pisa, and the Abbey of Saint Michael of the Cluse are on the agenda.

About the Inside Passage—has anyone here done it? Our only concern is the weather for that boat day between Prince Rupert and the northern part of Vancouver Island. Under clear skies, the landscapes are stunning. If it’s foggy or mediocre weather, well, we’ll have given it a shot! Just know you *have* to book the car passage way in advance.

I just booked a flight from CDG to Tromsø for a 3-week cycling trip toward North Cape. I’m looking for a travel buddy to join me on this bike adventure.

Route: Tromsø - North Cape - crossing into Sweden and Finland, then heading toward the northern Lofoten Islands before returning to Tromsø.

Distance: Around 1,500 km, or about 500 km per week. We can cover a bit less if we make slower progress than planned.

The minimum distance over 3 weeks is 1,000 km (500 km to reach North Cape and the same on the way back).

Bonjour Nous etions a ciudad del este nous nous pas pris le tete pour passer au bresil visiter les chutes d iguazu affretant un taxi cout aller retour 50 dollar us la passage de la frontiere comme de la france a l espagne rien on passes la frontiere tout droit sans aucuns controle pour juste une journée il est vrai. Les pesos argentin sont acceptés sans soucis, les guaranis non pour les autres monnaies etrangeres je ne sais pas. bon voyage quand les frontiéres seront reouvertes.

bonjour, je fais appel une fois de plus à vos compétences et conseils. je viens de partir 2 semaines avec le vélo ci dessous (Focus Mares) et j'ai eu les mains, la gauche notamment avec d'abord des "fourmis" puis paralysie, plus de sensibilité, plus de force. je précise aussi qu'ayant de petites mains le passage des vitesses n'est pas évident. je souhaiterais, si c'est possible remplacer par un cintre plat recourbé avec bar ends. je suppose que ce sera couteux mais ce vélo est neuf et par ailleurs fonctionne très bien. je n'ai pas souvenir d'avoir eu ce pb avec mon ancien vtc. merci d'avance pour votre avis. cdt
