Dom pr la 1er fois via Lastminute du 5 au 13 mai, et j'ai plusieurs questions : qqun connait l'Hotel Azzuro à Cabarete ? quelle est la compagnie aérienne utilisée (apparement c via Marsans le voyage) comment est la plage de Cabarete ? mon copain fait du windsurf, d'ou le choix de cette plage, et j'ai peur que le vent soit assez violent... est-ce possible tt de meme de lézarger au soleil sans manger trop de sable ? 😕

Nous préparons avec mon amie un TDM de Janvier 2005 à Novembre 2005 via, l'inde, l'asie du sud-est, l'indonésie, le Pérou, bolivie, Brésil, l'Afrique australe, l'egypte avant de revenir vers Paris. Pour nous déplacer d'un continent à un autre, nous comptons faire appel à connaisseurs du voyage (devis : 2500€ / personne). Nous sommes type auberge de jeunesse, transports locaux... je m'adresse aux expérimentés : à combien budgétisez-vous ce type de voyage ? Connaisseur du voyage est-il le meilleur plan ?

Je pars début novembre de Toulouse pour rejoindre le Maroc, via l'Espagne, en stop.

Traversée du Maroc, puis Mauritanie, Sénégal, à la démerde. Je file ensuite vers le Mali, tjrs avec les moyens du bord (en stop, train, bus, voir dromadaires), rejoindre Tombouctou vers fin décembre.

Burkina Faso, Bénin, Togo pout tout le mois de janvier.

Traversée du sud du Niger, pour rejoindre le Tchad et redescendre sur le Cameroun vers fin février.

Ensuite l'idée et de chopper un cargo (voir un voilier) pour rejoindre l'Amérique du Sud et y passer 4 mois, jusqu'en juin-juillet.

Je pars en solo, j'ai quelques points de chutes et des rencontres de potes prévues. Je vais bosser, probablement, sur quelques chantiers (en recherche ou à trouver sur place). Budjet d'environ 1500 euros pour les 8 mois, je suis confiant.

Je suis à l'écoute de ttes suggestions, mises en garde ou autres. Si tu souhaite m'accompagner sur un bout de chemin, c'est avec plaisir. Je suis super ouvert et adore les plans de oufs!!!

Last February, I made a trip using "public transport" from France to southern Senegal via Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, and Mauritania.

It’s a journey of about 5,000 km, where I took trains (as far as Marrakech), ferries (to cross Gibraltar and then to reach Casamance from Dakar), and mostly buses on the long desert straightaways. I hadn’t planned any stops in advance or booked any hotels, except for the very first train to Spain, which left plenty of room for the unexpected. Why travel by land and sea? In recent years, flight-free travel has been gaining popularity. On social media, posts explaining how to cross Europe by train as quickly as possible go viral. Traveling without flying—and making sure people know about it—has become a great way to earn a badge of eco-responsibility: an essential totem for anyone wanting to prove both their dedication to the ecological cause and the wisdom of slow travel. I haven’t flown in years, and this journey to West Africa could easily be filed under "responsible travel." But it wouldn’t be honest to say that: in reality, it wasn’t really my aversion to flying that motivated this long trek. I see overland travel primarily as a way to experience the world’s geography at a grounded, earthly pace—the pace of the locals. Besides, I’ll be flying back, which disqualifies any claim to being a model of sustainability. So no eco-badge, and no adventurer’s badge either: you won’t find any heroic tales of camel rides in lost lands or mineral train wagons in this account (popular with influencers, the Mauritania iron ore train now attracts tourists from all over the world, turning "the experience" into something you "have to do at least once in your life"). This five-part story, written on the road, has no other ambition than to recount a journey through places and people, and to share the thoughts they inspire in me. As simply and, I hope, as humbly as possible.

The idea is to plan the trip together with the agency. I’ve scheduled it for summer 2027 because I won’t be available before then, and I want to take the time to organize this road trip. I haven’t received any response yet... normally the processing time is 3 days... and there’s no way to contact them (unless you pay).

Has anyone already applied through this app? If so, how long did it take to get a response?

Hi there, I’m heading to Kruger Park for 4 days in May 2026. Departing from Paris → Skukuza via JNB on Air France. Here’s what’s worrying me: my flight lands (in theory) at JNB at 8:30 AM (Terminal A), then I’ve got a JNB → Skukuza departure at 10:05 AM (Terminal B). That leaves me with 1 hour and 35 minutes to make the connection and clear customs. I don’t have any checked luggage—just carry-on. I called Air France, and they said it’s doable (in theory) with a minimum connection time of 1 hour 30 minutes (which is why they sold the ticket), but I’ll need to move quickly. From your experience, is this realistic in practice? Can I ask customs officers to let me through as a priority? (I’ve got my flight ticket to show.) Thanks for your insights! Serge

A disastrous experience with Lastminute.com – Family left outside with no assistance

I booked a stay at the Akgun Istanbul Hotel via for a total of 3 884 €. Despite receiving a booking confirmation, the hotel refused to accommodate us. My wife was sick, we had two children with us, and we literally found ourselves outside with no help at all. We had to book another hotel at our own expense, and even with the evidence we provided (medical documents, receipts, exchanges with customer service), only refunded 717 €. Customer service refused to reopen the case, completely ignoring the exceptional circumstances. No gesture, no assistance, no respect.

I strongly advise against using this platform for anyone traveling with family or in sensitive situations. If something goes wrong, you’ll be on your own.

We just got back from a trip to Egypt: 2 days in Cairo, then a week on the Nile with a cruise through a tour operator. An incredible discovery of the Pyramids of Cairo—such an emotional moment! Then a wonderful stroll along the Nile, where we leisurely soaked in the "life" along this river. An exceptional guide who transported us back less than 4,000–5,000 years BC... But here’s the thing—because there’s often a "BUT"—the flip side is discovering a *very* polluted country! Even on the Nile, the number of boats is staggering (I went barefoot on the boat one day, and by the end of the day, my feet were black with soot?). In Cairo, with nearly 20 million inhabitants, there’s trash everywhere (except around the airport and villa areas). We even saw a dead cow with stray dogs eating its "innards"—but no one seemed bothered! By the way, there are *tons* of wild dogs in Egypt and very few... cats! One day after our arrival, we had to pay our entry visa to the guide on the bus—and *only* in cash? 95 EUROS???? A disgrace, since the visa price is $25 (as stated on the visa stamp)... Someone needs to explain where that money goes??? The excursions (optional ones) are *five times* more expensive than the posted rates for tourists. There are two prices: one for Egyptians (which makes sense, given an average salary of 360 euros/month). On top of that, the cruise manager asked us to pay half in cash and half by card (we refused and paid everything in cash). First time I’ve ever seen that payment method for excursions—where *does* the money go?... During a stop in Aswan, we wanted to visit the Nubian Museum (amazing!). We took a carriage, and before leaving, we agreed on a round-trip price of 20 euros for 4 people to take us to the museum. It was all good with the driver—who called himself "Michel" and his poor horse, Rambo. On the way back, of course, he caused a scene, demanding *much* more... We refused and gave him the 20 euros we’d agreed on. But then, as if by chance, this same carriage driver stopped for a man who asked us to exchange two 20-euro bills and 10 one-euro coins for a 50-euro bill. I pulled out my 50-euro note while talking to Michel, and the other guy claimed I’d given him a 10-euro bill?? He handed me the bill—so you get the scam! So, be *very* careful with carriage drivers and their "colleagues"! Drinks on board are outrageously priced—a simple beer (Stella) costs 5 euros, and the wine is undrinkable... Tips are expected in euros—they won’t accept Egyptian pounds... and of course, you’re constantly harassed to exchange 5-euro or 10-euro bills, or even more! They end up with tons of coins, so we did it at first, but after a while, it’s just not possible—they insist way too much! I’ll stop here—it’s already quite long. So, a mixed-feelings trip overall...

I need help creating my IRCTC account. I tried to create an account via the website (not the app), but I’m not receiving any OTP at my email address. It asks me to verify my OTP to confirm registration, but I’ve tried multiple emails and checked spam, trash, etc.—nothing. I’m not getting any OTP at all.

What should I do now?

I want to take the train from Delhi to Agra Cantt. What are my options without an IRCTC account? I have a trip from New Delhi to Agra and another from Agra to Jaipur.

FYI: I’d prefer to avoid the bus since it doesn’t seem to stop, and I don’t feel comfortable jumping off a moving bus. Too risky for my taste.

1) I’d love to get some recent info on crossing this border. We’ll be entering Cambodia through Siem Reap Airport with an e-visa (electronic visa), and I’d like to know if we’ll be able to leave Cambodia through this border crossing without any issues using this type of visa.

2) I’m also looking for info (company names and schedules) on public transport options to Battambang/Pailin and then to Ben Pakkad/Chantaburi. Or, since there’ll be six of us (5 adults and 1 young child), would it be better to go for a taxi instead? If so, I’d appreciate recommendations for reliable taxi companies. Price isn’t a deal-breaker for the taxi option.

I’m looking for a group of camper van travelers to cross China in September 2025, from Kyrgyzstan to Laos via Lhasa (no visa required for Europeans if staying less than a month).

Hi there, just back from a three-week round trip to Quebec and a side trip to New Brunswick. Departed from Montpellier, via CDG, then arrived in Montreal from July 31 to August 20, 2024. AF flights went smoothly.

The RT itinerary (without the visit details):

Arrival in Montreal; Trois-Rivières; Tadoussac; Matane; Gaspé; Campbellton; Trois-Pistoles; Quebec City; Montreal and return to France, AF to CDG then Hop! to Montpellier.

Observations:

Getting out of Montreal airport is a nightmare! Two hours at Avis Auto to pick up the car (nice ride, though—a WW SUV Atlas V6 for two). From what I’ve heard, Montreal Airport is a pain because it was initially under-dimensioned for its infrastructure, and it seems impossible to reorganize everything.

Quebecers: Wonderful people in terms of hospitality and behavior toward tourists—especially French ones. You can ask them for advice at the supermarket, for directions here and there, and those distant cousins are great! That said, I’d exclude Montreal, which, due to its size and perhaps its cosmopolitanism, can’t be considered as welcoming as the countryside and small towns we passed through. A bit like Paris, you could say.

Quebecers prefer Quebec City over Montreal, and I get it. On a positive note for the city, I left some money in the hotel at the end of my stay. Once back in France, I contacted the hotel (day before yesterday), and they confirmed the oversight and are taking steps to send the money back. A nice gesture. It’s the Nouvel Hôtel, 1740 Avenue René Lévesque. Well-located, too.

Tourists: Same as always!

Americans: Still lacking in culture and education, but we already knew that. Loud, intrusive, annoying, you could say. And I’ll skip the “Oh my God! Oh my God!” all day long. And always with a coffee cup in hand on the streets. Not just American tourists, actually. Coffee is either enjoyed at the counter of a café or at home in front of the day’s news. It must also be said that our cousins’ coffee is more like dishwater.

Tourists from the Middle Kingdom: No change there! Flagrant lack of European culture and respect. They can be quite annoying at times. Thankfully, they don’t like the countryside or small towns.

Tourists from the Land of the Rising Sun: As usual, impeccable behavior. Both in terms of dress and discretion.

The British: They feel at home. Well, they kind of are, actually. Distant, inaccessible—typical English folks.

South Americans: A lot of them in Montreal during my stay. Quite noisy, especially at breakfast. But deep down, they’re great and very polite. I really like them. Must be my 36.1% Iberian DNA from my ancestry test that makes me say that.

And the French? Always the same! Complainers, grumblers, never happy with the meal, always finding prices too high, cutting in line, sometimes with a Quechua backpack but not always. In short, we don’t change. That said, there were some really nice people and great encounters that will leave wonderful memories. Some folks from Marseille in Quebec City, Toulouse in Montreal, Perpignan... But not many Parisians. Or maybe they just don’t talk to outsiders. When I think that my wife is from the 14th arrondissement...

And lots of lovely young French people there on a Working Holiday Visa for two years.

Others? Italians? Didn’t run into many. Eastern Europeans? Didn’t see any, or they were super discreet.

The trip started on July 31. 2,000 photos to sort through. More to come later.

Nous avons acheté le 5 mars 2020 des billets A/R non modifiables Lyon-Colombo (via Doha) à Qatar Airways pour un voyage en février 2021. Nous venons de recevoir pas mail une modification de billets : les horaires sont sensiblement les mêmes, mais l'aéroport de Lyon a été remplacé par CDG (Paris) sans aucune explication, ni ajout de vol Lyon-Paris !

Sommes-nous en droit de demander l'annulation et le remboursement intégral de nos billets pour cette raison de modification de ville ?

Je suis très pessimiste quant à la une amélioration sanitaire d'ici 5 mois, donc ce serait l'occasion de différer sans frais notre voyage.

Bonjour, Impossible de joindre cet hôtel pour une réponse à notre demande d'annulation de prélèvement. Réservation via Booking qui n'y arrive pas non plus. L'hôtel a donc l'empreinte de la CB et ne nous a pas encore prélevé. Nous avons lu des avis identique et des personnes expliquent que cet hôtel prélève la totalité du séjour alors même que nous ne pouvons pas entrer dans leur pays. Aussi, notre super conseillère bancaire a bloqué tous les prélèvements avec notre carte mais nous pouvons recevoir les remboursements et nous avons commandé une carte CREDIT bien moins coûteuse en plus, gratuitement et qui servira pour les locations auto. 😉
