One-day itinerary for Prague
by Steph60650 · 2026-03-13 · 1 reply
Hi everyone,

I'm on my way to Slovakia, where I'll be spending about ten days on vacation in the High Tatras. I've decided to stop in Prague for 24 hours with my two teens (arriving around noon, leaving the next day). We don’t know the city at all. I know a single day is way too short to discover everything, so I’d like to plan a small circuit to see the must-see spots.

Here’s what I’ve planned:

Walk through Nový Svět street Visit the castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, and Golden Lane Quick stop at Vojanovy Sady gardens Malá Strana Square Maltese Square Kampa Island Then the iconic Charles Bridge and a short tour of the Jewish Quarter We’ll head back down to visit Old Town Square (Malé Náměstí, St. Nicholas Church, and the Church of Our Lady before Týn) Head to Wenceslas Square and the Church of Our Lady of the Snows Then to the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius and the Dancing House And finally, back to the starting point.

Estimated distance: 10 km

I was thinking of a little evening stroll up Petřín Hill... what do you think? Are there things that aren’t really worth it, or other spots that are must-sees?

Thanks for your thoughts and feedback!

Stéphane.
Feedback on 1-month China itinerary
by Cedric13600 · 2026-01-07 · 12 replies
Hi there,

I’d love to get some feedback on our 30-day / 29-night itinerary in China. We’ll be there in September as a family with two kids (6 and 10 years old). Do you think I should cut a few nights between Wulingyuan (Avatar Mountain) and Yangshuo? I’ve planned 15 nights total there. We’ll be on a round-the-world trip starting May 2026 and will need to do schoolwork with the kids. Hoping to fit it in during train rides!! Ever since I started planning this China itinerary, I’ve been discovering completely mind-blowing places I’d never heard of before—30 days feels way too short for China!!!

Here’s our itinerary:

Beijing - 4 nights Forbidden City Great Wall of China Temple of Heaven

Xi’an - 3 nights Terracotta Army Muslim Quarter & Great Mosque

Chengdu - 3 nights Zoo - Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding Wenshu Yuan Temple

Wulingyuan (Avatar Mountain) - 3 nights "Avatar Mountains"

Zhangjiajie - 2 nights Tianmen Mountain

Furong Town - 2 nights

Fenghuang - 2 nights

Guilin - 2 nights Chuanshan Park Guilin Yaoshan Scenic Attraction Reed Flute Cave

Yangshuo - 4 nights Biking along the Yulong River Moon Hill Ruyi Peak Xianggong Hill

Shanghai - 4 nights Shanghai Disneyland Yu Garden / Yuyuan Garden Yuyuan Bazaar

Thanks! Cédric

Looking for new places to see in Thailand
by Gigi29 · 2025-09-02 · 6 replies
Hi everyone, help! My wife and I love Thailand, but after a good dozen trips, we're out of ideas 🙂 We’ve pretty much done all the islands: Koh Ngai, Jam, Kradan, Lanta, Lipe, Muk, Pha-Ngan, Ngai, Samui, Tao, Phayam, Phi-Phi, Chang, Yao Noi, Yao Yai, Phuket, and now we’re looking for a quiet spot on the mainland. Last year, we spent 15 days on the east coast in Ban Kroot, north of Chumphon, and we’re looking for something similar. Thanks for any other suggestions!
Road trip in Botswana in July 2025

The departure: David was on time, as always, to drive us to the airport. At the check-in counter, I was told my passport was damaged and they needed to check if I could board the plane or not. Huge stress. We waited a good twenty minutes while a supervisor checked my passport and let me through. Meanwhile, we’d already come up with backup plans in case I had to stay in Brussels. Anyway, it all worked out in the end—we’ll see in Addis Ababa and Maun if they let me through. Needless to say, I’m really nervous.

The Ethiopian Airlines flight went smoothly. We met up with Jean-Mi and Nadette, our friends from Marseille, in a café at the airport in Ethiopia. We recounted our adventures over coffee. Oh boy, things were getting hectic at the boarding gates—we got in line, and after a long wait, a bus took us to a plane that, hopefully, was headed to Maun and not the Congo.

Four hours later, we arrived. After clearing immigration—phew, my passport was accepted—a rep from the agency picked us up in a taxi to our guesthouse for two days, Riverfront. The hotel was nice, with large rooms featuring mosquito nets, a small kitchenette, and a huge bathroom. There was also a balcony overlooking the river, where water had only arrived the day before. Massive electric fences separated the garden from the river—hard to tell if they were for animals or thieves, probably both, especially since rising water attracts hippos and crocs. We took a walk along the river, and the two French guys from the agency joined us, confirming they’d be back the next afternoon for a briefing. We ordered food to be delivered to the hotel—too lazy to take a taxi.

After a good night’s sleep, we were ready for the 4x4 briefing. We’d rented two Hilux trucks with rooftop tents for the two of us. We spent nearly three hours going over mechanics, camping gear, setting up and taking down the tents, tire management for different terrains, water and fuel tanks—basically, we *think* we’re ready. Time to grab food and do some shopping. We already got lost in town—this bodes well for the rest of the trip.

We decided to eat at a sort of chicken fast-food place in Maun Mall, called Chicken Liken. What a mess. You order, but you have no idea how to get your food. The overwhelmed cashier checked our order four times, forgot Cochies’ dish, and the food was cold. Avoid this place. The supermarket was well-stocked, but with health restrictions, we had to rely on a lot of canned goods. This whole errand took up the entire day. Looks like we’ll be eating a lot of corned beef—should be interesting. After a good shower, Nadette took us to Boma, a really nice restaurant with a touristy but fun vibe. One more good night’s sleep, and the adventure begins!

Azalea is looking for roommate(s)
by Gorbanzobean · 2025-08-14 · 0 replies
Hi there,

We live in a charming little house in the beautiful Laurentians region (Mont-Tremblant), Quebec, and we're looking for friendly travelers who'd like to stay there in August 2026 while we're traveling in Newfoundland and Labrador. The condition, along with a modest contribution, will be to take good care of Azalea, our cat, and our lovely garden... NOTE This isn't a commercial offer, but rather a search for caretakers who'll voluntarily contribute to the normal costs of maintaining the place. More details and photos available upon request. Looking forward to it!

Paris in 2 days on foot: itinerary and feedback on my route
by Nico2184 · 2025-07-30 · 9 replies
Hi everyone,

I’d love to get your thoughts on these two routes I’ve planned to see the highlights of Paris in two days.

I don’t want to take any transportation.

I’ll arrive at the hotel by car on Saturday around noon and won’t pick it up again until the next evening to leave.

**First day:** I’m thinking of starting from the hotel, then heading to the Eiffel Tower - Trocadéro - Galeries Lafayette - Élysée Palace - Tuileries Garden - the Louvre (outside only) and finishing at Les Invalides.

12 km

(The route on the map is just for reference to show the places we’ll visit—it might vary by a hundred meters or so.)

**Second day:** Starting from the hotel, we’ll go to Montmartre - Sacré-Cœur Basilica - Pigalle - Notre-Dame Cathedral - Panthéon - Luxembourg Garden.

What do you think? Am I missing out on anything great with this route?

Since I’m traveling with two kids, do you see any spots on these routes that might be a bit risky safety-wise? 🏴‍☠️

We’re not big museum fans, so we’re not planning to visit any—unless it rains, of course! 😄

One last little question: are there any protests planned in Paris on the weekend of August 16-17? 🙂 Thanks for reading! 😎

Where can I find my quiet paradise for retirement?
by Chiffonnade · 2025-04-19 · 2 replies
I’m turning 65 and I’ve had enough! Enough of France that no longer feels like my France, enough of our societies that are too civilized, too globalized, too complicated... I’d love to find a little quiet corner to spend my final years. A beautiful, warm spot where dogs can still run freely, where social media doesn’t matter, where money isn’t supposedly the key to happiness, where there aren’t 10,000 people per square meter, no cars, no noise! Just a tiny garden, a cabin, a stretch of beach nearby, kind and smiling people, a little café to hang out in, and good fruit that still tastes like something... I mean, I’m not asking for the moon here, am I? I don’t need much, right? Who’s got some good ideas for me? I already know it’s not in Europe, not in the United States, not in Australia, and probably not in Africa. Can’t wait to read your suggestions! =D Chiffonnade
Camera Fee at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, India
by Kaerlagad · 2025-03-23 · 5 replies
Hi,

Does anyone have recent info on the camera fee amount at Tadoba-Moharli? We spent 8 days there in the second half of February, and the local tour operator (The Wild Cat Eyes) collected 2000 rupees per camera per safari without any receipt—totaling 240,000 rupees (~265 €) for 12 safaris (9 in core zones and 3 in buffer zones). The signs at the park entrance listed 250 rupees, and the tour operator ignored our requests for an official park receipt.

Thanks in advance! Pk

Hi everyone, We're back in India for the 7th time (for the other trips, check here: https://www.unendroitoualler.fr/asie/) ... But this time, no more exploring or trekking! With age, we're just spending a quiet month in southern India, a country we particularly love... Our journey starts in Kovalam, then Monroe Island, Varkala, Kochi, Kannur, Udupi, and finally, as in recent years, Gokarna. No problem getting around—there’s the train all along the coast...

Night in Trivandrum

Prepaid taxi to the « Safire Residency », where we stayed last year. This hotel is still just as nice and welcoming (980 INR). Then, dinner at the restaurant « Ariya Niwas » where we enjoyed those delicious dosas again! (We missed them!)

7-day mini road trip in Corsica: your thoughts?

Hi everyone, after a stay in the South and one in the North, I’m planning a mini road trip in Corsica (Bastia-Bastia) in June to explore places I haven’t seen yet. Since we’re heading to the mountains later this year, we’ve deliberately skipped the Corsican mountains. Could you share your thoughts and, most importantly, suggest things to see? We love nature, reasonable hikes, peaceful spots, and small villages. No cities. No boat excursions (yes, that includes Piana and Scandola). We already know the area between Bastia and Calvi.

June 8 Drive to Calvi (beach and/or fortress) Meal at Les Boucaniers restaurant Night in Calvi

June 9 Walk from Calvi fortress to Alga beach Charcuterie platter at A Casetta Calvi Night in Calvi

Draft 20-day itinerary for Japan
by Bananette · 2025-01-22 · 2 replies
Hi there,

Having already visited some of the "classic" spots during my first trip to Japan in 2006, I’d like to show my partner some slightly lesser-known places (all relative, of course!) for our trip planned in November 2025, while still keeping a few of the country’s "must-sees."

Here’s the rough itinerary I’ve sketched out so far:

- Day 1: Arrival in Tokyo – Night in Tokyo - Day 2: Depart for Kamakura – Night in Kamakura or return to Tokyo - Day 3: Depart for Matsumoto – Visit the castle – Night in Matsumoto - Day 4: Matsumoto – Narai – Tsumago – Night in Tsumago - Day 5: Tsumago – Magome (hike) – Night in Magome - Days 6, 7, 8, 9: Depart for Kyoto – Sightseeing – Nights in Kyoto - Day 10: Depart for Kinosaki Onsen – Night in Kinosaki - Day 11: Explore the area around Kinosaki (Takeno? Izushi?) – Night in Kinosaki - Day 12: Depart for Himeji – Visit the castle – Night in Himeji or Hiroshima - Day 13: Miyajima Island – Night in Hiroshima - Day 14: Depart for Onomichi – Night in Onomichi - Day 15: Bike day to Ikuchi Jima / return by ferry – Night in Onomichi - Day 16: Depart for Tomo-no-Ura then Kurashiki – Night in Kurashiki - Day 17: Depart for Okayama – Visit the garden – Night in Okayama - Day 18: Kibi Plain bike ride – Night in Okayama - Day 19: ??? - Days 20, 21, 22: Tokyo – Nights in Tokyo

I’m struggling a bit to gauge how long the travel times will be, despite my online research, so I’d love to hear your thoughts and advice on this itinerary.

Thanks so much in advance for your feedback!
Train itinerary in Japan: Kinosaki Onsen – Himeji – Hiroshima
by Bananette · 2025-01-22 · 11 replies
Hi there,

I’m continuing to plan our next trip for this coming November.

I’d love to know if it’s realistic to leave Kinosaki Onsen by train in the morning, stop at Himeji Castle (for a visit), and then continue on to Hiroshima to spend the night.

From what I’ve seen, visiting Himeji takes about half a day, and there are coin lockers nearby to store our luggage.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there, We’d planned a hike in the Knuckles at the end of February, but everything I’m reading about leeches is freaking me out—I know I wouldn’t handle having one on me (call me a wimp if you want 😅). Is it really that bad? Plus, it sounds like a lot of tiring road just for a day trip. What do you recommend? Thanks so much! 😊
