Here’s a first draft for a 14-night itinerary during the Christmas break with two teens. We’re especially fond of hiking (nothing too extreme, though), which is why we’re drawn to the south.

- Marrakech (2 nights) - Aït Ben Haddou (1 night) - Dadès (3 nights, though we’re thinking of doing a day trip to the Todra Gorge on one of those days) - M'hamid (1 night) - Erg Chigaga (1 night) - 4 nights to slot in - Marrakech (2 nights)

Okay, I realize this involves a lot of driving, and we’re still debating the return route since we’d like to avoid the Tichka Pass in January, but going through Taroudant seems like it would add *a lot* of time. 😕

If you’ve got other suggestions for an itinerary with great hikes, I’m all ears!

Also, the 4 nights total in MRK isn’t really our preference, but since we’re arriving/departing super early from overseas, we’d like to be a bit rested before the long flight.

Another question: For hikes (aside from the desert one), is it better to have a guide with us, or are the trails well-marked?

Is this doable by public transport? Next, from Ouarzazate, I’d like to go to Tagounit or M’hamid. Same question—is public transport feasible? If I rent a car, which agency is reliable in Ouarzazate, considering I only have a debit card? Are there any deposits required? I’d also love recommendations for simple homestays. Thanks a lot!

I’m planning my next trip outside Europe for next year, but unfortunately, I don’t have a choice with the dates—it’ll be late June to early July. Last year, I went to Japan for three weeks, and it was a constant 36-37°C with over 90% humidity. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either.

For southern Morocco, I know it’s a period to avoid if possible, but for those who’ve been there in early July, did it cause any major issues? Otherwise, I’ll start thinking of another destination.

Here’s the rough itinerary I had in mind, renting a car for the whole trip:

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech late morning Day 2: Marrakech Day 3: Marrakech -> Aït Ben Haddou -> Ouarzazate Day 4: Ouarzazate -> Vallée des Roses -> Dadès Gorges Day 5: Dadès Gorges -> Tinghir -> Todra Gorges -> Erfoud Day 6: Erfoud -> Merzouga (Erg Chebbi desert) Day 7: Merzouga -> Ouarzazate Day 8: Ouarzazate -> seaside? Agadir or Essaouira Day 9: ?? Day 10: ?? Day 11: Return to Marrakech and flight back late afternoon

Is this schedule too rushed? Does Ouarzazate deserve an extra night? The seaside isn’t a must, as long as we can swim somewhere—pool or lake. We’re planning activities like horseback riding, camel treks, quad biking, and jeep tours.

MOROCCO END 2024 / BEGINNING 2025 Off-season, I was lucky enough to negotiate hotel prices. I should also mention that this was for a solo traveler until December 30th. After that, there’ll be three of us! Practical info. Here’s all the info I gathered during my 3-month trip. Cities: TANGIER / CHEFCHAOUEN / FES / MOULAY IDRISS, VOLUBILIS / AZROU / MIDELT / ERRACHIDIA / RISSANI / MERZOUGA / TINGHIR / BOUMLANE DADES, AIT OUGLIF / OUARZAZATE / TALIOUINE / TAROUDANT / TIZNIT / TAFRAOUT / SIDI IFNI, LEGZIRA / AGADIR / ESSAOUIRA / MARRAKECH ///

From there, we’ll be three people. Cities: IMLIL / OUARZAZATE / AGDZ / ZAGORA / AIT BEN HADDOU / MARRAKECH / ESSAOUIRA / CASABLANCA. (Generally, I found that mattresses in Morocco were quite hard. My solution: I put two, even three folded blankets on the mattress to add some softness. Wi-Fi almost never works in the room.)

Tangier: Hôtel Fuentes Petit Socco, Old Medina +212 539 934 669 (For one person, end of October) Upon arrival, 19 € for a double room with a private bathroom. Breakfast included. Chefchaouen: Dar Besmellah Av Ibn Askar +212 539 986 489 (For one person, end of October). I don’t recommend it. A small, low-ceilinged room with a window facing a patio. Very dark and damp. Shared bathroom. 9 € Dar Bleu Pearl N° 4 Derb Benyaakoub +212 (0)539 88 28 86. Negotiated on-site to 130 MAD instead of 160 on Booking. Small room, furniture, Wi-Fi, private bathroom. Fes: Riad Alfredo or Riad Rocco—it’s the same place. It’s in a very narrow alley. N° 15 Derb Sidi Kjih or Qjih Talla Sagira +212 662 769 688 (see photos and virtual tour) Negotiated to 13 € on-site; on Booking, it was 16 €. Breakfast included. Atypical Anne room with private bathroom, Wi-Fi. The room is a bit dark. One of the best beds on my trip. Again, this was for a solo traveler off-season (end of October to end of December). Moulay Idriss: Gite El Menzeh (see the map) Negotiated on-site to 14 € with breakfast; on Booking, it was 24 €. I also negotiated for dinner—very good and hearty—for 5 € (the manager wanted 20 €). I stayed in the large upstairs room with a double bed, window, and private bathroom, not the tiny windowless rooms downstairs. Azrou: Hôtel des Cèdres Place Mohamed V. (see the map and photos) Negotiated 13 € instead of 16 € on Booking for a room with two small beds and a private bathroom. This hotel is honestly run-down and not worth the price at all. The owner thinks it’s a very classy hotel because of its old reputation! Midelt: Chez Ali, city center (see map) Negotiated to 14 € instead of 17 € on Booking. Room with two beds, bathroom, window, small terrace, and Wi-Fi. Er Rachidia: Hôtel El Fekri. Rue Moulay Abdalah Ben Ali (see map and photos) Couldn’t negotiate on-site—14 €, but on Booking, it was 5 € more! Rissani: Hôtel Restaurant Panorama +212 615 978 445 Well, I’d say skip it. Rooms without windows and shared bathrooms. Or on the terrace, there’s a sort of space with a big bed and a small bed behind a locked iron door with a window and an external bathroom that’s also used by people eating on the terrace. If there are people on the terrace, forget about privacy! Not to mention the internet doesn’t work, and the bed is as hard as a straw mat. All that for 150 MAD—luckily, I didn’t book through Booking, or it would’ve been more expensive!!! I didn’t stay. This closet isn’t even worth 100 MAD—and even that’s too much! A little further on, I went to a hotel where no one spoke English or anything else. I got a large room with 3 beds, a private bathroom, and Wi-Fi for 100 MAD. Merzouga: Said’s apartment +212 618 659 264. No real address—it’s right next to a souvenir shop, far from the center. (see photos) 15 €. The apartment is large with two bedrooms and all the comforts. But for me, it was too far from the village. Chez Belkecem: Marked on GPS. I don’t have any coordinates (see photos). +212 666 911 732 Negotiated on-site to 13 € with breakfast; on Booking, it was 2 € more. The room is decorated in a Berber style, with a private bathroom and a window to the outside. The worst breakfast I had in Morocco! Tinghir: Dar Al Medina Av Mohamed V (see map) Beautiful hotel negotiated to 13 € instead of 18 € on Booking. Breakfast included, Wi-Fi, room with a double bed and a single bed, window, and private bathroom. (Top floor) Boumlane Dades: Auberge Tamazirt (no contact) see GPS. Negotiated to 13 € with breakfast. It’s rustic, but I had a private bathroom, a large bed, Wi-Fi, a window, and a double bed. And the best part—the super-friendly owner gave me one of the gas heaters from the hallway. Aït Ouglif: Hôtel Aït Marghad. (See the map) Negotiated to 150 MAD instead of 240 MAD with breakfast. The place was half-closed because it was off-season. Room with a double bed on the ground floor, window, Wi-Fi, and bathroom. Heating provided—essential. The hassle was that there was almost no hot water. Ouarzazate: Hôtel Atlas 13 rue du marché +212 524 887 745 It’s on the pedestrian street. (See photos) Negotiated to 13 €. Old-fashioned room, double bed with a very hard mattress. Private bathroom, window, and Wi-Fi. Taliouine: Hôtel Le Safran. A 20-minute walk from the center—no other choice. Otherwise, there are a few local hotels, but even if I’m not always picky, there are limits. (See the map) Negotiated from 300 MAD to 200 MAD. Breakfast, Wi-Fi, window, king-size bed, private bathroom. The room is large (No. 11). (There’s a pool in the hotel.) Hôtel Atlas Bordeaux: +212 666 752 292 (next to the bus station) Usually, I’m not too picky, but honestly, skip this one. This place could be good because it’s central if: the cleaning was thorough. The bathrooms need to be redone... etc. No sheets—just a sort of blanket on the mattress and another to cover yourself. Obviously not clean. No towel. A bathroom that hasn’t been cleaned in way too long. In short, absolutely avoid. 120 MAD! Taroudant: Hôtel (mini) Atlas Bld Mansour Eddahbi (see map and photos) Double room with window, large bed, private bathroom, Wi-Fi (not great). A hotel that doesn’t look like much but is sparkling clean! 90 MAD for a single, 120 MAD for a double. Tiznit: Résidence Chem (see map) 100 MAD for a room with two single beds (very hard), window, private bathroom, and Wi-Fi. Clean but poorly maintained. Tafraout: Espace Tifawine (see the map). Hotel with a pool. Negotiated to 14 € on-site instead of 30 € on Booking. I could even choose my room. A large room with two beds—one big and one small. A large bathroom, a window, and Wi-Fi. Sidi Ifni: Hôtel Suerte Loca. (No contact, see GPS) I paid 140 MAD for a room in this dive—no negotiation possible. My room had a tiny terrace, the walls were repainted, but it’s super noisy (neighbors). Worse, when someone uses the water, there’s a loud machinery noise. That’s not all—the mattress is really worn out and sagging. The bathroom isn’t great. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work! This place still enjoys its old reputation, but it’s really run-down, and everything is old. The bedding is the worst I had in Morocco. Skip it. There’s much better for cheaper elsewhere! Hôtel La Belle Vue: Just before Suerte Loca +212 528 875 242 The reception staff was more than unfriendly. After seeing the rooms, I didn’t stay because the bedding would’ve been like sleeping on a yoga mat. Obviously not worth the 200 MAD asked for. Hôtel Aït Baamrane. Further down on the beach. Same price as above. The only difference is that everything is in good condition and comfortable, with a warm welcome.

Hôtel Safa: (see the map and photos.) On-site, no negotiation possible—200 MAD; on Booking, it was over 350 MAD. Huge room with all the luxury you could hope for. Breakfast included, large bay window, king-size bed, TV, Wi-Fi, furniture, and of course, a private bathroom. Agadir: Hôtel Kamal (see map) The only hotel I booked through Booking because there was a good discount. Except on-site, the hotel never wanted to give me the discount. At night, small insects that strongly resemble cockroaches—yet it’s high-end with doormen, etc. I contacted Booking, but nothing worked! I paid 250 MAD! Essaouira: Hôtel Elkasbah Souiria (See map and photo) Small room (No. 18) with a single bed and all the comforts. Private bathroom, window, Wi-Fi, and breakfast included (all-you-can-eat buffet). No negotiation possible—200 MAD. Chez Lina: Rue El Khemiset +212 658 042 562 (she speaks French) Large apartment with two bedrooms. Private bathroom on the landing. Wi-Fi. New, so not yet well set up. Far from the center. I paid 15 € instead of 18 € on Booking. Marrakech: Hôtel Atlas 50 rue Sidi Bouloukate +212 661 358 662 Tiny room on the ground floor with a shared bathroom. Wi-Fi, tiny window, very dark and noisy. 12 €

On December 31st, I’m joined by friends. The rooms will be for three people. Marrakech: Hôtel Agnaou 10 avenue or passage Moulay Rachid. +212 705 306 275. Negotiated on-site to 28 € for a room with a window to the outside and a private bathroom. Wi-Fi. Riad Todos: in the old medina +34 643 480 502 Watch out for extra taxes they might try to charge you. No heating. This place could be nice if better maintained. Bad smell of cat urine. Water leak in the bathroom. Wall crumbling from humidity. However, the reception staff is warm and tries to satisfy you. 120 MAD booked on Airbnb! Imlil: Auberge de la Vallée (see map) Large room with 4 beds. All comforts. Private bathroom, heating, Wi-Fi, and breakfast. Negotiated on-site to 300 MAD for three people. Ouarzazate: Hôtel Iazal: Av. Moulay Abdellah +212 524 886 187 (see photos) Very expensive for this hotel. Small room for 3 with a tiny, impractical bathroom. Heating, Wi-Fi, window. The showerhead is placed between the tiny sink and the toilet. The small space floods quickly. Far from the pedestrian center. No negotiation possible—350 MAD for three. Agdz: Guesthouse Le Chant des Palmiers. (See map) Very nice room—more like a small apartment with a fireplace corner, gas heating, private bathroom, Wi-Fi, windows, bedroom area plus two single beds. Breakfast included. Negotiated to 400 MAD for 3 people instead of 840 MAD on Booking. Zagora: Hôtel La Palmeraie. (See map) Room with bathroom, Wi-Fi (not great), heating, and window. Breakfast included. No negotiation—300 MAD (for 3). Aït Ben Haddou: Auberge La Barraka (see the map) Large, beautiful room with windows, Wi-Fi, heating, bathroom. Breakfast included. Pool. Negotiate a good price—but I didn’t note it down. (Around mid-January) Essaouira: El Kasbah Souiria. (See above) Room for three. Same benefits. No negotiation. 500 MAD. Casablanca: 664, Résidence Clémentine BD Mohamed V, Roches Noires. +33 6681 48002 Large, upscale apartment. Not far from Casa Voyageurs train station. Booked on Booking. 45 € (Last day, January 16th). Upon arrival, the price is always a few euros cheaper than on Booking—except in rare cases. Then, negotiation is possible or not! Prices vary depending on the season.

A few good places (for me) to eat.

Fes: Chez Hakim. (See map) Very good, hearty, and almost cheaper than anywhere else in the medina. Ouarzazate: Pasto wood-fired oven Place Al-Mouahidine +212 696 484 281 It had been a long time since I’d eaten such a good pizza (better than in most restaurants in France). At a price that beats all competition! Midelt: Berber Restaurant. (See map and photos) A dive that doesn’t look like much but is delicious at a more than affordable price. Marrakech: Dar EL WALIDIN Raid laahrouse, Rte Sidi Abdelaziz +212 653 493 637 Great selection, good food, and also cheap!

(At Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Under the warm welcome at restaurant « Chez Ali N° 65 », we got scammed out of 7 € when paying the bill! Experts at swindling.) Azrou: Snack La Forêt (see map) Again, good food at a low price. Merzouga: Snack Alafrah VOLUBILIS: The price has gone up to 100 MAD. Honestly, if you’re not an archaeology buff, it’s not worth it! BANKS: The best exchange rate I got was at BMCI. For ATMs, I paid the least fees at Banque Populaire. TRANSPORTATION:

Airport taxi Tangier to Petit Socco: 100 MAD Train: Fes to Meknès Al Amir: 35 MAD Casablanca to Airport: 60 MAD

Grand Taxis: (Shared taxi for 7 people that only leaves when full. I never waited more than 15 minutes to leave. There’s good turnover, and the vehicles are in good condition. They go faster than buses and are almost always cheaper. Prices are fixed, and you don’t pay the driver but the station chief!)

Meknès to Moulay Idriss: 12 MAD Moulay Idriss to Azrou: 35 MAD Midelt to Errachidia: 60 MAD Errachidia to Rissani: 40 MAD (I preferred this option rather than leaving at night or very early in the morning from Errachidia to Merzouga with Supratour, the only company that goes to Merzouga.) Sidi Ifni: To go to Legzira, there are green shared buses that leave every 2 hours for 6 MAD. Petit Taxis: You have to negotiate hard—the price can double. Example: In Fes, they asked me for 50 MAD from the bus station to the Blue Gate. By walking a bit further and being patient, I got a taxi for 20 MAD! Another example: From Agadir’s bus station, they asked for 40 MAD to go to Hôtel Kamal. In the end, I paid 15 MAD! Hi, I’d like to travel from Rabat to Tétouan. Besides the CTM option, which takes 4 hours from the CTM station, there’s the Supratours option that combines a train from Rabat to Tangier and then a bus from Tangier to Tétouan. From what I understand, Supratours is the bus company affiliated with Morocco’s national railway. My question is: where do we catch the bus after arriving at Tangier Ville train station? Is it right at the train station in Tangier Ville, or do we need to go to the bus station, which is pretty far from the train station? Thanks! Daniel

Nous avons pensé au Maroc pour un premier grand voyage à l'étranger en famille. Nous pensons que ce pays permettra à nos enfants de découvrir de nouveaux horizons en nous épargnant de trop longues heures d'avion. J'y suis allé jeune mais serais incapable de dire si l'itinéraire auquel j'ai pensé peut se faire sans que cela soit la course. L'idée est donc de partir une douzaine de jours max avec une arrivée à Marrakech puis location de voiture pour commencer l'itinérance:

J1: arrivée Marrakech J2: Marrakech J3: rejoindre Skoura en passant voir les cascades d'Ouzoud J4: Vallée des Roses / Vallée des Dades J5: Tineghir/ Gorges du Todra J6: Merzouga ou Erg Chebbi (nuit en bivouac dans le désert) J7: nuit à Tamnougalt en passant par Ouarzazate dans la journée J8: Ait Benhadou J9: dernière nuit à Marrakech J10: retour en France

Je me suis inspiré de pas mal de commentaires et carnets de voyage mais ne suis pas sûr de moi sur ce coup là. Nous souhaitons acheter nos billets prochainement pour profiter de tarifs avantageux. Je suis bien sûr preneur de vos suggestions sur les loueurs de voitures, hôtels, restos ou étapes insolites. Nous souhaitons avant tout prendre le temps plutôt que multiplier les sites à "visiter".

Bonjour, Je suis un peu à la dernière minute... Je serai au Maroc (Casablanca) au début mars pour 9 jours avec mon ado de 16 ans. C'est un retour au Maroc après 12 ans, donc nous avons déjà fait le circuit des cités impériales.

Nous allons louer une voiture, suggestion location grandes marques internationales ou locales?

Je pensais partir dès notre arrivée vers Essaouira, puis vers Marrakech, ensuite Merzouga et retourner vers Casablanca. Bien entendu, nous allons faire des arrêts dans quelques villes entre ces grands points d'intérêts. Vos suggestions sont les bienvenues.

Est-ce trop de distance à parcourir en peu de temps? Mon fils veut absolument passer une nuit dans le désert, des alternatives à Merzouga?

Bonjour, l'itinéraire se dessine pour 14 jours en Mai. Première étape Taroudant 3 nuits Avec visiite de oasis de Tioute et la vallée des cėdrats au sud de Taroudant. Je ne trouve pas grand chose sur cette vallée , Certains d'entre vous connaissent peut être ? Tafraoute 2 nuits pour apprécier et visiter les environs Amtoudi 2 nuits. Pour Amtoudi j'ai une question. De Tafraoute mieux vaut emprunter la R107 ..... Izerbi ou la R-104 puus P 1919 et P1317 par Ifrane Anti Atlas avec une voiture logan.? Puis guelmin, sidi ifni, Mirleft , Tiznit. Puis direction Essaouira 2 nuits et retour Agadir . Comment vous semble ce parcours. Faisable en 14 jours.? Merci.

Je souhaite partir en voyage en Aout 2020 pour une durée de 3 semaines incha'Allah (moi ma femme et ma petite fille d'1 an). J'ai bcp hésité pour choisir le cirucit à effectuer (vu le boom des vacanciers en mois d'aout, mais je n'ai pas le choix !), et après concertation, j'ai opté pour un circuit en deux parties :

- Circuit 1 (Atlantic) : Casa-Essaouira (3jr : pour explorer la région aussi)-Tiznit (2 à 3 jrs : avec un passage Merfleft/Legzira/Sidi Ifni, soit 6 jrs en total.

- Circuit 2 (Atlas) : Tinzit-Taliouine (1jr)-Ouled Berhil (1jr)-Taroudant - Marrakech, ou aller directement à Marrakech (3 à 5 jrs), soit 7jrs en total.

Mes question pour vous chers voyageurs s :) :

- D'abord vos avis concernant ces deux circuits (choix des villes, durée, période etc) ? - Pour l'Atlas en mois d'aout : est ce que la chaleur est supportable (Surtt avec un bébé d'1 an) ? - Pour le 2ème circuit : est ce que ça vaut la peine le passage par Taroudant ou je prend directment la route vers Marrakech (ouled berhil/marrakech) ? - Dernière question : pour aller à Marrakech, j'hésite entre la route nationale + autorute ou passer par le col Tiz'N'Test (ma femme préfére l'autoroute pour la sécurité, bébé etc, moi je préfére le Tiz'N'Test avec même un nuité dans l'hotel la belle vue). laquelle pour vous est la plus interéssente ? Tiz'N'Test est sûre ou ça risque ?

A noter que je compte voayager avec ma voiture personnelle (Ford Fiesta).

À ceux qui pourront m'aider, je serais heureuse de lire votre avis concernant un itinéraire de voyage au Maroc que nous ferons fin mai avec notre fille de 6 ans.

Quelques informations générales : -premier voyage au Maroc pour tous (j'ai fait rabat et casa en deux jours pour le boulot mais ça ne compte pas :) -premier grand voyage pour notre fille -arrivée le 18 mai à Marrakech, retour le même jour de Marrakech aussi

Vu le contexte, nous nous disions que ce n'était pas une mauvaise idée de faire un itinéraire classique incluant Marrakech et Essaouira. Mais nous aurions souhaité inclure quelque chose en plus comme nous avons quand même 11jours. Du coup nous pensions à Ait Ben Haddou qui a l'air superbe, de même que la route qui y mène. L'inconvénient est que cela nous force à faire un aller retour Marrakech-Ait ben haddou et à passer une nuit supplémentaire à Marrakech car il me semble difficile de faire la route Ait ben haddou Essaouira en un jour avec une enfant. Nous pensons prendre des bus.

Mes questions sont: -cela vaut-il le coup selon vous de faire cet aller retour ? Si non, pensez-vous une chouette excursion de deux trois jours à faire entre Marrakech et Essaouira ? Ou bien pensez-vous qu'on devrait ne pas faire essaouira par exemple et favoriser un itinéraire plus "logique", en continuant plus loin qu'ait ben haddou par exemple (ça a l'air beau, mais cela conviendrait-il à une petite fille qui n'adore pas marcher :)?

Notre idée jusqu'ici : 18: arrivée à Marrakech et installation, 3 nuits sur place 21: départ pour Ait Ben Haddou, deux nuits sur place 23: retour vers Marrakech 24: départ pour Essaouira, 4 ou 5 nuits sur place 28 ou 29, retour vers Marrakech 29 : vol retour

On souhaite faire découvrir plein de choses à notre fille (et à nous-mêmes) mais à un rythme relax, pas au pas de course, car il nous semble aussi important de prendre le temps et le pouls des lieux.

Ou bien devrais-je plutôt me concentrer et faire un parcours sur le Nord ?

Je fais appel à vous, car malgré toutes les info trouvées sur le forum, je voudrais votre avis sur notre itinéraire. Nous partons 11 jours en famille à 11 (3 générations réunies, 3 enfants 7-9-13 pour les plus jeunes, ensuite de 19 à 70 ans). Le voyage, même les vacances sont une grande première pour la famille avec les 2 plus petits). Nous, nous avons l'habitude de voyager à travers le monde.

J1 : vol Lyon Marrakech (arrivée 8H30), départ pour la nuit à Casablanca (ou Rabat) J2 et J3 : nuits à RABat J4-J5 : nuits à Meknès J6 : nuit pour couper le trajet, entre Meknès et Merzouga J7-J8 : nuit dans le désert J9 : Ouarzazatte J10-J11 : Marrakech

Nous allons louer 3 voitures. Le circuit fait 1500 km

We planned this trip with the tips we got from this forum, so thank you to everyone who helped us prepare. Thanks to you, we had unforgettable moments.

Here’s our itinerary, which let us see the Atlas Mountains, the oases of the South, the sandy desert, and the Atlantic coast. We landed in Marrakech early in the morning, and our rental car agent was waiting for us at the airport. After sorting out the formalities, we left Marrakech heading toward Ouarzazate.



The heavy traffic in Marrakech quickly gave way to smooth driving. As soon as we left the city, it was calm. And right outside the city, we came across shepherds grazing their sheep by the roadside... It’s definitely a surprise at first! But yes... We’re in Morocco... No doubt about it... We’re in the thick of it! As we started gaining altitude, vendors waved at us, offering dried morels. At first, we weren’t sure what they were selling, but we stopped for tea on a terrace to admire the mountain scenery, and they offered us those famous morels again.





We continued our climb toward Tizi N Tichka... Gigantic valleys stretched out before us. With every turn, we discovered breathtaking landscapes.





Villages built into the hillsides blended into the earth. It was strikingly simple yet harmonious.



At the top of the pass, 2200m up, we stopped to soak in the moment, the fresh air, and the view.

And we carried on toward Ouarzazate. The road was under construction. Mechanical giants were tackling the mountain. But the mountain was enormous. We were impressed by the scale of the work.





Then, we left the main road to head left toward Telouet... It was stunning. The colors changed. Maybe we felt less overwhelmed by the imposing Atlas. Just a personal impression!





Right after passing through Telouet (maybe we’ll shock history buffs—we didn’t visit the kasbah), we went to see the salt mine. It was unexpected. Salt was everywhere. The stream water wound its way between salt crystals and waterfalls. It was really pretty. And then there was the cave. We had a guide for the visit. Stalactites and stalagmites crisscrossed here and there. At the back of the cave, we saw a small lake surrounded by crystals. It was beautiful.







We hit the road again. We drove through stunning landscapes: vast plains for grazing herds, rivers nestled deep in the valleys.



We proudly drove past the ksar Ait Benhaddou without stopping—just long enough to snap a quick photo and keep going so we’d arrive before nightfall.



We made a few small purchases in Ouarzazate and headed straight for the Skoura palm grove, where we’d booked three nights at the guesthouse Kasbah La Palmeraie. Mohamed, the owner, welcomed us warmly, and we shared tea with the family. We felt right at home. We were made to feel welcome.



Dinner was a hit—a real Moroccan meal, a sweet-and-savory dish with steamed vermicelli and chicken. Delicious! A great surprise for us—we’d never tried it before.



After such a long day that started so early, we were happy to crawl into bed. But we felt like the trip was off to the best possible start.

J'envisage un ride en moto au Maroc pour Avril 2020, de PAris vers Agadir . Avec ma "Little big moto" , un Transalp 650 , j'hésite un peu entre la traversée de l'Espagne , un peu long , un peu "frais" debut avril ...ou la traversée Sete-Tanger avec 45 h de bateau, . Ensuite je descends sur Casa ( j'y recupère ma femme) et soit Marrakech, Ouarzazate , Dades ... ou Safi esssaouira, Agadir ....

Nous en sommes à nos premier moment de planification pour un voyage de 18 jours fin mars au Maroc. Première fois pour nous dans ce pays, 3e voyages avec nos enfants. Nous nous demandions comment avez vous été reçu avec des enfants en bas âges, autant dans les restaurants, place publique, qu’en résidence chez l’habitant? (15 mois et 2ans et demi en mars)

Nous prévoyons un itinéraire à partir de Casablanca vers Merzouga avec arrêt de 1-2 nuit en route quel endroit ferais du sens pour couper le trajet en 2, Khénifra? Par la suite reprendre la route vers Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Essaouira, puis retour sur Casa.

Premièrement, est-ce un itinéraire réaliste pour 18 jours?

Pouvons-nous explorer le désert et ses dunes en y passant une nuit avec les enfants en bivouac? Balade à chameau et tout...

Pour l’hébergement est-ce qu’il vaut mieu tout planifier à l’avance? L’accueil chez les gens semble bien, malgré le fais d’avoir des enfants qui peuvent se réveiller la nuit ou tôt le matin est-ce possible?

Pour se balader dans les villes et médina avec des jeunes enfants quel moyen avez vous préféré? Poussette, porte bébé ...etc?

Coté sécurité en général quel sont vos conseils pour profiter de notre séjour?

Juste quelques impressions et adresses si cela peut aider.

Apres deux ans d'attente nous reprenons le chemin du Maroc. Nous passerons la premiere nuit au Riad Al-Amir, reserve via booking, qui ne nous laisseras pas un souvenir impérissable : on a connu accueil plus sympathique et le confort n'était pas au niveau du prix (un taux de change applique de manière arbitraire et un transfert aéroport/Riad sans commune mesure a ce qui se pratique)

Apres une soirée consacrée a reprendre contact avec Marrakech et le dédale de ruelles dont est composée la médina, nous mangerons notre première Tajine chez Oscar et changerons qq euros a l’hôtel Ali (message pour les connaisseurs de ces lieux) Dés le lendemain nous prenons la route en direction d’Ait Benhadou, ce sera long et harassant car la route est en travaux sur plus de 100 km avec des engins, des coupures de routes pimentées de la signalisation version marocaine … Nous arriverons enfin d’après midi chez Houcine ou les retrouvailles auprès de la famille prendront un certain temps. Nous finirons la soirée (tard !) invités a manger par le propriétaire de la fibule d’or et nous dormirons dans un autre lieu car l’auberge affiche complet. L'auberge Nouflla ou nous serons logé est situe a l'entrée d'Ait-Benhadou se révélera correct sans beaucoup d’âme, mais trop habitue a être héberger par notre ami, notre avis est tout ce qu'il ya de plus subjectif ! Nous repartons des le lendemain pour Tazenaght rejoindre une famille amie ou nous passerons la nuit. Nous sommes hébergés dans le vieux village et comme ce lieu est aussi une cooperative de tapis je ferais l'impasse sur le gite et le couvert car ces moments relèvent plus de la retrouvaille avec des amis et ne peuvent en rien être une source de nuitées pour des voyageurs. Nous reprenons la route pour Taroudant dés le lendemain matin après un petit déjeuner pris en commun avec la famille « élargie » Le trajet entre Tazenaght et Taroudant se fera sans grande difficulté. Il sera seulement ponctue de l’allumage intempestif d’un voyant au tableau de bord de la Logan. Après arrêt et dans un premier temps consultation du livret de mode d’emploi : c’est juste pour signaler que la vidange est dépassée… je passe un coup de fil a l’agence le loueur confirmera : « c’est rien monsieur vous pouvez continuer a rouler le voyant été déjà allumé a Marrakech » bon moi je l’avais pas vu avant. -A ce sujet. Juste un mot sur la location de voiture après recherche j'avais loue chez "Locationauto" au prix de 151€ pour 14 jours via bsp-auto.com et si la prise en charge du véhicule s'est déroulé sans problème ainsi que le trajet sans grosse fausse note si ce n'est l'incident mentionne plus haut la restitution sera un peu "sportive". En effet ayant rendu la voiture un, presque, deux jours avant j'avais demande au prestataire de me ramener au Riad (pres des tombeaux Saadiens donc pas très loin de l’aéroport) si celui ci m'avais donne son accord au tel je me suis retrouvé lors du retour face a une personne agressive envers ses collègues et par ricochet désagréable avec nous : j'ai pas compris son attitude étais ce une heure ou beaucoup rendent les voitures? et effectivement il y avait beaucoup de circulation en ville (mais à Marrakech ...) Mais a mon sens rien ne justifie un tel énervement : il m’aurais dis non j'aurais pris un taxi...C'est la seule fausse note en regard du prix très doux et qu'a la place d'une 107 nous ayons eu une Logan.-

La recherche d’un hôtel dans la ville de Taroudant sera l’occasion de tourner autour des remparts de la ville. Nous avons cherche vainement l’hôtel ou nous avions séjourné lors d’un précédent périple mais Brahim, (notre chauffeur d'un voyage precedent) nous fait cruellement défaut et le GPS ne le remplace que partiellement... En son absence ce sera « Zizou » (le cheval) et Saïd le cocher qui a bord d’une « rutilante » calèche nous fera faire les tours et détours de la ville. Heureusement personne de notre connaissance ne nous verra jouer les touristes lambda! Un peu plus avant dans la soirée nous nous rendrons compte que ce moyen de locomotion est en fait très utilisés par les autochtones, et à l’heure des déplacements écologiques en ville c’est de fait très a l’ordre du jour !! Nous logerons au Riad Taroudant : un peu difficile d’accès. Ne paye pas de mine de l'extérieur mais une fois passe la porte le lieu est calme. belle piscine propre. Chambre correcte (un peu de poussière mais bon on est au Maroc et il y avait du vent) bonne literie et douche de bonne facture. Bon emplacement pres d'une place animée le soir. Petit déjeuner : moyen une demi crepe un demi petit pain cela fait un peu mesquin. Voila pour aujourd'hui la suite plus tard ... si cela vous intéresse?

Nous projetons de partir 15 jours faire une boucle à vélo fin décembre au Maroc. Que nous conseilleriez vous ? Nous sommes une famille avec deux ados filles. Nous voulons éviter trop de dénivelé mais nous n'avons pas de scrupules à prendre un bus qui nous dépose en altitude … nous préférons les pistes aux grosses routes, nous faisons max 50 km par jour. Nous sommes autonomes avec tentes et tous de ce qu'il faut et avec de très bons duvets qui nous permettent de dormir sous tente si il fait un peu froid. Nous n'avons pas encore pris le billet d'avion et j'hésite entre Marrakech (et prendre un bus vers le sud) et Agadir.

Nous sommes à marrackech à partir du 2 octobre nous recherchons 2 personnes pour partager les frais d une excursion privée de 3 jours dans le sud marocain avec guide et hébergement A 4 cela revient a 200 euros par personne tout compris Nous sommes un couple de retraités

J'aimerais après avoir fait plusieurs fois le Toubkal (désormais guide obligatoire et plusieurs contrôles gendarmerie) faire l'ascention du M'goun par le Sud, au départ de Skoura ou de Kalaa M'gouna. Pouvez vous me donner des infos sur les différents itinéraires et des adresses de gîtes et éventuellement de guides.D'avance merci.
