Senegal/budget/vie nocturne English translation pending
by JeanPiair · 2005-03-03 · 10 replies

English translation pending
by Kega · 2004-03-19 · 7 replies

English translation pending
by Numerobis · 2003-01-16 · 4 replies

Excursions in Reykjavik, Isafjordur, and Akureyri with MSC
by Bbarche · 2025-11-22 · 3 replies
Hi everyone. There are quite a few posts about these excursions, but they’re pretty old.

Do you have any (more recent) info on excursions or other experiences in these Icelandic ports: Reykjavik, Isafjordur, and Akureyri? We’re traveling at the end of August 2026 with MSC, and their prices are really high. Thanks so much
Motorcycle trip from Avignon to Senegal in November/December
by Paulremy · 2025-10-27 · 1 reply
Hi everyone...

Looking for travel companions to ride from France to Senegal by motorcycle.

I’m Paul, 37, and I’ve already done a bit of riding in Morocco.

For now, I’m solo, riding a 1998 SUZUKI DR 650 with some basic gear to keep things smooth. I’ll have a tent so we can do a few nights under the stars. We’ll need to coordinate departure dates—"ideally in November."

I’m currently checking out routes to take. Any tips would be welcome! :)

Have a great day, everyone!!!!!
Travel companion for Mauritania / Senegal in November by 4x4
by Jeanbafrique · 2025-10-03 · 9 replies
Hi everyone, A well-prepped 4x4, a travel plan across Africa in stages since I’ve got kids to see regularly and work to earn a living. I’m leaving in November for about a month with the goal of reaching Senegal via Mauritania. I’d love to share this trip with someone who wants to discover Mauritania and a bit of Senegal... and also experience life on board a 4x4 in the desert or bush, sometimes sleeping in the vehicle or in hostels/small hotels for comfort. I want to share this rediscovery because two’s better than one! Just traveling, exploring, and living! !
Looking for a co-rider for an African winter migration
by Preludenrem · 2025-09-27 · 3 replies
Hello everyone! Like every year, a winter migration is on the horizon (revised plan): this time, it’ll be Dakar, or even Abidjan, via Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal. Looking for an experienced motorcyclist or pillion rider—small build preferred—on a GSA 1250 with a comfy seat and luggage setup, available from early November to late December 2025. I’d like to plan the trip together (important to me) to make sure we’re on the same wavelength. Don’t hesitate to get in touch! Didier
Comprehensive travel insurance for camper van in Mauritania and Senegal
by Ongcinegal · 2025-09-11 · 6 replies
Hi, With a camper van that's less than 3 years old, we're heading from France to Senegal via Mauritania. Our comprehensive insurance covers us for Morocco. However: For Mauritania: - How can we get insurance for 1 week in Mauritania? - Where and which reliable agency should we contact in Morocco? (Not the "guide" at the border) - Darkhla or elsewhere? Please, do you have any contact details? - Is it possible to take out comprehensive insurance, not just third-party liability? - Please, do you have any idea of the rates? For Senegal: - Can we take out comprehensive insurance in Diama or St Louis for 3 weeks or 1 month? - Which reliable agency or company? Please, do you have any contact details? - Please, do you have any idea of the rates? Thanks so much
Which fjord to visit in New Zealand?
by DominikLouis · 2025-08-25 · 2 replies
We’re crossing New Zealand next April and we’re wondering which to choose between exploring Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. The first is more well-known, famous, and popular, a UNESCO natural heritage site, while the second can be just as spectacular—bigger, harder to access, and less touristy. Thanks for your thoughts!
Poutine, souvenirs, and must-see spots in Quebec City?
by Vandfaure · 2025-08-14 · 11 replies
Hi everyone! We’re nearing the end of our trip and have 3 nights in Quebec City. What are your must-try spots for a good poutine? Our previous attempts haven’t gone well, and where’s the best place to buy souvenirs that actually scream "Quebec"? Also, what are your top picks for sights and walks? We’re thinking Old Quebec, Lévis, and Montmorency Falls. We’ll be there for 3 nights but only have 2 full days. Thanks in advance for your ideas!

Is crossing Iran to Pakistan safe?
by Julie09400 · 2025-04-17 · 85 replies
Hi there,

We’d like to travel overland from Turkey to India in our converted van, but there are very few options these days. Crossing Iran seems risky and not particularly safe. Has anyone here done it? If so, which route did you take to minimize safety concerns?

Thanks for your replies, Julie 😎
Combining Temples of the Sun/Moon, Bentonite Hills, Factory Butte, and Moonscape Overlook
by Poney · 2025-03-31 · 24 replies
Hi there, I’d planned to visit Cathedral Valley, Goblin Valley, the Burr Trail/Northom loop, Factory Butte, and Moonscape Overlook, as well as the Capitol Reef scenic route over three days. The scenic Highway 12 would be for the following days.

Since I rented an AWD SUV, I was planning to contact an outfitter for Cathedral Valley, but they suggested that instead of doing Cathedral Valley with them and the rest solo, they could take me to the four most relevant sites mentioned in the title. Their plan is to start at sunrise at either Temples of the Sun/Moon or Moonscape Overlook and then hit the other three afterward. What do you think? Thanks! Louis
Two loops from Salt Lake City: how much cash should we bring?
by Poney · 2025-03-24 · 13 replies
Hi there, We’re doing two loops: from SLC to Grand Tetons/Yellowstone from 06/25 to 06/26 (June 1–8) and another in Utah from 06/25 to 06/26 (June 8–16).

We’ve already been to these areas and are filling in gaps from previous trips—especially in Utah with Capitol Reef, Kanab (including White Pocket—we’ve already done North and South Coyote Buttes), Wahweap Hoodoos, The Narrows, and a few other little treats.

Renting an AWD SUV from Rugged Rentals and bringing a sat phone for the gravel roads.

I use a Revolut card for payments to avoid hefty foreign-exchange fees, but I’m wondering how much cash we should bring for 15 days.

Thanks for your input! Louis

Feedback on a 7-day itinerary in Senegal
by Christ0phe · 2025-01-29 · 8 replies
Hi there, We’re heading to Senegal for the first time at the end of February as a group of four, and we’re eager to make the most of our 7 days. So, not much (if any) downtime—just a heads-up! ;) For such a short trip, we’ve had to make some tough choices. We’ve decided to skip Lompoul due to the 24/7 noise and light pollution from the mine. Casamance is too far for this time around. We love animals and birds (and it seems late February/early March is still a good time to spot migratory birds). We’re planning to rent a car. Putting all these factors together, here’s the rough itinerary we’ve come up with: - Day 1: Dakar, Gorée - Day 2: Kayar, Saint-Louis, Lac de Barbarie - Day 3: Makhana, Djoudj Bird Sanctuary, Lac de Barbarie - Day 4: Drive to Somone - Day 5: Bandia, Somone - Day 6: Saloum Delta - Day 7: Saloum Delta - Day 8: Return to Dakar Airport

What do you think? How much extra does it cost, roughly, to hire a guide compared to just renting a car on our own? Thanks so much for your insights—we really appreciate it! Christophe

Possible stops on the Dakar route?
by Fred4454 · 2024-11-25 · 10 replies
Hey riders (or not) 😉 For those who’ve already done it and know the route, could you tell me where to make stops (hotels, guesthouses) between Laayoune and Nouakchott, for example? And what’s the minimum range needed to get between two gas stations? Thanks and have a great day
Voyage à Munich au mois d'août English translation pending
by So13 · 2020-07-26 · 2 replies

by Fastclemmy · 2020-06-27 · 8 replies

Fribourg Meersburg Schwangau Ulm Munich Ratisbonne Nuremberg Heidelberg

by Lecoeurestun · 2020-06-12 · 10 replies
Bonjour,
