We're back. It's still a bit tough to get precise info, so here's a quick trip report!

A good starting point is Shkoder, a really pleasant city. You can easily explore Shkoder itself in a day or two.

Two accessible spots: Valbona and Theth. In both cases, local travel agencies in Shkoder or online offer round-trip or one-way access packages. Super handy, especially for Valbona.

Valbona and Theth are both very steep! There aren’t many easy hikes for less sporty folks (like me!).

Valbona: The highlight is the amazing 2.5-hour boat ride across Lake Koman. There are day trips from Shkoder, but you’ll only get a short tour of the lake. The best option is to do the full crossing—so spend a night in Valbona (or two if you want to hike in the valley) and return.

Theth is deeply nestled in the mountains. The village at the end of the valley, which is a dead end, has lots of hotels, but they’re pricey. Other hostels are scattered along the mountainside road, but it’s a steep climb down to the village or to the start of the two easy hikes (waterfalls and the Blue Eye). For us, it was a one-hour descent (and ascent!). It’s fine if you have a car; otherwise, keep an eye out for a taxi (cheap) or try hitchhiking—it works really well. Access from Shkoder to Theth is through an agency. The road is in great condition, and you can also rent a car for 2-3 days in Shkoder. If we did it again, that’s the option we’d choose.

We didn’t do the trek and returned to Shkoder each time. I can’t speak to its difficulty, but we were there in late May, and even experienced hikers had given up because of heavy rain and snow.

We’ll be in Dahab again this October—we’ve been going since 1979—to freedive. In 2025, to our surprise, access to the Blue Hole is now paid: on top of the 10 € taxi fare, you have to pay $10 per person to enter the park. So we’re heading outside Dahab to the Three Pools site by bike, rented locally. Is there a bus that goes there, or shared taxis, instead of the tourist taxis? And where can we catch them? We’ve seen big buses full of local families on the site, but we don’t know where to find them. Thanks in advance!

I’ll be in Iceland from June 26 to July 14 (19 days). The trip is split into two parts: Day 1 to Day 13 as a 4x4 road trip / Day 14 to Day 19 as the Laugavegur Trek. We’ll be in a 4x4 like a Jimny with a roof tent, and for the trek, we’ll be self-sufficient (tent, sleeping mat, etc.).

It seems like there aren’t ferries every day to Serifos… And from Serifos to Andros, bookings aren’t open yet. We checked ferryhopper.com. Could anyone give us some info on these routes, please? Is it necessary to book in advance?

I came across a (really interesting) cruise on the Mein Schiff 4, and apparently, no French agencies sell Mein Schiff cruises. After several searches online, only Wondercruises and Seascanner work with them.

The advantage of Wondercruises is that they’re partners with "Flying Blue," and you can earn miles.

I love a good challenge, so why not try out this company—it seems pretty solid!

Hi there, Our son is in Canada for a year on a Working Holiday Visa, and we’re planning to join him around September 20th for a 15-day campervan road trip in Nova Scotia. I was thinking of going with Canadream, but if you have other rental companies to recommend, don’t hesitate! Here’s the itinerary I’ve been considering—I tried not to cram in too many stops so we’re not just driving the whole time.

Day 1: Pick up campervan in Halifax at 3 PM. Stop at Peggy’s Cove, then drive to Lunenburg and Blue Rocks (151 km) Day 2: Explore Lunenburg, then head to Kejimkujik National Park for hikes or other activities. Overnight in the park (91 km) Day 3: Drive to Annapolis Royal (visit), Port-Royal National Historic Site, then on to Digby (111 km) Day 4: Ferry to Saint John (visit Reversing Falls), then drive to St. Andrews (103 km) Day 5: Whale-watching excursion and explore St. Andrews Day 6: Drive to Alma and Fundy National Park (233 km—we’ll probably leave St. Andrews the night before to split the drive and arrive earlier in Alma) Day 7: Hopewell Rocks (check tides) (43 km) Day 8: Hopewell Rocks—Tatamagouche (dinner train)—Pictou (237 km). Maybe there are places to listen to folk music? - If you have any campgrounds or wild camping spots to recommend, I’d love to hear about them. - Do we need to book the ferry this time of year?

I'm trying to plan a little Greek getaway in early summer, and it's a tad complicated—connections from Sitia to Rhodes via Karpathos are only twice a week (and not on the days that work for me!). I gave up on the idea of Kastelorizo, which isn’t that easy to reach either, and replaced it with Symi, which has a daily connection—even several—to Rhodes, where I’d like to spend as little time as possible. I found a boat leaving Symi at 8:15 AM and arriving in Rhodes at 9:35 AM. The ferry to Karpathos leaves the same day at 11:00 AM. That’s 1 hour and 25 minutes to switch boats. It’s tempting because it’s a perfect sequence, but I’m wondering if it’s still a bit too tight.

Do Sebeco Lines’ speedboats arrive at the same port where Blue Star ferries depart? Are they punctual?

We arrive at the airport on the 8th and planned to take the Alilaguna waterbus to St. Mark’s Square to get to our Airbnb. We’ve estimated arriving at St. Mark’s Square between 11 AM and 12 PM. We didn’t realize we’d be arriving on the day of the race.

Because of the Vogalonga race taking place on June 8th, is the Grand Canal still navigable? If not, from what time will it be accessible again?

Hi everyone, What great news to read that Voyage Forum is back up and running—I’m so happy! 🙂 I need some advice for a trip we’re planning in 2025: New Caledonia and Australia.

We’ll arrive in Australia on September 1, 2025, and the plan is to spend 2 nights in Melbourne to explore the city, then rent a car to drive from Melbourne to Sydney, where we’ll arrive on September 12. Unfortunately, we won’t have time for the Great Ocean Road

I’ve checked several blogs for this route and here’s the itinerary I’ve put together:

9/4: Melbourne to Philip Island (140 km) – 1 night 9/5: Philip Island to Wilsons Promontory National Park – 2 nights 9/7: Raymond Island (free ferry to cross a 200 m sea channel) – Lakes Entrance – 1 night 9/8: Drive to Narooma (stop at Quarry Beach) – 1 night at "Bodalla Park Forest Rest Area" 9/9: Batemans Bay – Pebbly Beach – Dolphin Point – Jervis Bay – 1 night (to be found) 9/10: Jervis Bay and surroundings – 1 night at Bendeela Picnic Area 9/11: Blue Mountains National Park (1 hour from Sydney) – 1 night (to be found) 9/12: Arrival in Sydney

I know we won’t be able to see everything, and this 9-day route is just a starting point. The goal is to avoid rushing—if we see a place we like, we’ll stop, even if it means seeing less. A vacation where we don’t watch the clock too much! 🙂 Does this route (a mix of several blogs where not all stops are noted) seem realistic or too ambitious? Are there certain spots that are more worth prioritizing over the ones I’ve listed? For example, in one of the blogs I read, travelers skipped Blue Mountains National Park because they chose another site (which I’ve forgotten 😎).

For accommodation, we’ll likely be camping (free or paid), so if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! 😎

Our arrival in Sydney on September 12 depends on my hope to participate in the marathon on September 15, 2025. After that, we’ll leave Sydney on September 17 for Ayers Rock.

nous partons du 19 au 26 Septembre pour Santorin et nous aimerions faire une escale d'1 ou 2 jours à Anafi.

Or je ne trouve aucun ferry sur aucune compagnie cette semaine là !

Les horaires et les possibilités de réservation ont l'air d'apparaitre très tardivement sur internet. Connaissez-vous des compagnies permettant de réserver dès maintenant ? Ou alors peut-être est-ce trop tard dans la saison et les îles ne sont plus reliées fin septembre ? Peut-être certains d'entre vous ont-ils fait ce trajet récemment. En tout cas nous sommes un peu bloqués pour l'organisation du voyage donc votre aide sera bienvenue...

Ou alors me conseillerez vous d'autres îles pas trop lointaines faisables sur 1 à 2 jours ? Car d'après ce que j'ai lu une semaine entière est peut être longue sur Santorin.

Bonjour à tous 🙂 Je commence avec beaucoup de difficulté l’organisation de notre RT de septembre ( nous devrions partir le 9 ) Je n’arrive pas à m’y coller tant les chances d’y aller me semblent faibles. Le comble serait que le vol soit maintenu et que rien ne soit prêt !!! D’autant que si nous ne partons pas ce sera partie remise . Après notre nuit de Cripple Creek nous devons dormir à Salida Ce jour là nous avons prévu de visiter la ville fantôme de Saint Elmo et de monter jusqu’à Twin Lakes ( aller jusqu’à Leadville rallongerait beaucoup ) Est ce que le détour vers Twin Lakes vaut le coup (80 km aller retour) et est ce vous connaissez des petites marches pas trop longues dans le coin et vers Saint Elmo ? Une autre question plus spécialement à Blue Mesa qui me l’avait conseillé pourquoi passer par Guffey plutôt que par Wilkerson Pass . Il y a sans doute de jolies choses à voir ou à faire. J'avais ouvert une discussion sur cette destination il y a un an, mais comme mes préoccupations ne sont plus tout à fait les mêmes, je préfère créer un nouveau post... Nous envisageons un voyage en PF pour l'été 2021 (en espérant que la situation s'améliorera d'ici là 😇). A vrai dire j'ai déjà réservé les 4 seules nuits disponibles au Maupiti Lodge début juillet. Maupiti est une priorité pour nous. Nous disposerons d'environ 3 semaines. Les billets ne sont bien sûr pas encore réservés. Donc s'il faut ajouter ou supprimer un jour par ci ou part la, cela ne pose pas vraiment de problème.

L'itinéraire serait le suivant: Arrivée Tahiti / Maupiti / Raiatea & Tahaa / Bora/ Fakarava (ou Fakarava + Tikehau)/ Moorea / Tahiti

En tenant compte de la rotation des vols d'îles en îles, je me heurte à plusieurs ( tout petits) problèmes et j'ai besoin de vos avis...

Rester 5 nuits à Raiatea n'est ce pas un peu trop long ? Ne serait il pas préférable de couper la poire en deux et de passer 2 nuits sur Tahaa, puis 3 (ou 2) nuits à Raiatea ? ou encore 4 nuits uniquement à Raiatea ? Nous aimerions bien avoir de la place au Sunset beach.

Nous envisageons 3 nuits à Bora. Peut être le Mataï ou encore le Blue Heaven... ?

Maintenant concernant Fakarava...Nous ne sommes pas plongeurs et J'ai lu des avis contraires sur cette destination. Certains disent qu'il vaut mieux être plongeurs et d'autres disent que la destination se prête bien aussi au snorkeling. C'est la beauté de cet atoll qui nous attire. Concernant le logement, nous avons pensé au Haivaki Lodge si nous restons 4 nuits . Une autre idée serait de rester 2 nuits à Tetamanu pension et Haïvaki 3 nuits. Qu'en pensez-vous ? ou encore Fakarava 3 nuits et Tikehau 3 nuits.

Nous comptons passer quelques jours à Moorea, probablement aux Tipaniers. 4 nuits sont-elles suffisantes ? Nous prévoyons 2 jours pleins à Tahiti avant le départ.

Savez vous s'il existe une liaison bateau de Folégandros à Kéa (août)? Tous les horaires ne sont pas encore sur gtp, il est trop tôt. Pour l'instant gtp me dit qu'il n'y a pas de traversée MAIS cela m'a déjà été dit les années précédentes sur d'autres trajets et c'était tout simplement parce que les horaires n'étaient pas encore en ligne... Du coup difficile de savoir si c'est ça ou s'il n'y a vraiment pas de traversée. Si quelqu'un a cette info je suis preneuse! Merci d'avance!

Après quelques recherches, je fais appel à vos expériences pour m'aider dans mon organisation de voyage.

Voila, je compte partir avec mon amie 9 jours pleins en Islande en Juin, louer un véhicule type Camper Van et faire le tour de la route 1 (l'intérieur de l'île étant encore difficile d'accès sans 4x4 à cette époque). Nous souhaitons donc dormir dans le véhicule ici et là pour surtout des questions de budget.

Plusieurs interrogations : - Est-ce faisable sur 9 jours de faire le tour ou mieux vaut revoir l'itinéraire (nous ne voulons pas courir tous les jours). - Nous ferons forcement les spots naturels classiques mais avez vous quelques suggestions à ne pas louper a cette période de l'année. - Pour la location de véhicule, avec toutes ces assurances qui proposent (sable, gravier etc) un loueur en particulier à conseiller (véhicule dans lequel je souhaite dormir)? Une assurance à ne pas oublier de souscrire ? - Nous pouvons donc dormir partout semble-t-il mais est-ce si facile pour le quotidien : douche / toilette? faire des course ? ...

Enfin toutes informations ou tips que vous jugez utiles n'hésitez pas à les partager.

Bonjour à tous, Je sais que la question a souvent été posée mais je n'ai pas trouver de réponses a mon pb (enfin pas aussi précisément que j'en ai besoin). Lors de mon retour de pointe a pitre l'avion avait plus de 30 minute de retards ce qui m'a fait rater la navette orly CDG prévue, j 'ai pris la suivante et bien sur l vion allait décoller le comptoir Air France m'as donc remis sur un autre vol ce qui m'a fait atterir a Montpellier avec plus de 5 heures de retard. J'ai don fait une reclamation mais Air France me réponds que c'est la faute du prestataire extérieur a Air france si mon premier vol était en retard (je vous met la réponse de KLM

à peine rentrée du Viet Nam, je me mets déjà à rêver de Grèce... et me demande quelle est, en saison estivale, la desserte ferry pour Limnos. Il y a bien Kavala-Limnos, mais au départ de Limnos y'a-t-il d'autres destinations ? Le Pirée sans doute ? d'autres îles ? et notamment Skyros ? Même question pour Skyros : un ferry régulier depuis Kymi en Eubée... liaisons avec les Sporades... mais d'autres départs ? Merci pour vos conseils et retours d'expériences ! Marie

Je vous soumets mon projet d'itinéraire pour un séjour de 9 jours en Guadeloupe fin mars. On est plutôt randos nature donc le gros du séjour se passera sur basse terre, mais on aime aussi les belles plages! Je remercie par avance les lecteurs avisés pour leurs conseils et avis (faisabilité, immanquables oubliés, …) : J1 : arrivée 15h00, prise de voiture de loc, route jusqu'à Sainte Rose, course alimentaires J2 : Visite de la mangrove (des avis sur des excursions? blue lagoon par exemple) + saut des trois cornes J3 : Route de la traversée : randonnées, visite cascades et plage à deshaies pour finir la journée J4 : Saut d'acomat, réserve cousteau (îlet pigeon, kayak de préférence) J5 : Rando la soufrière, bains jaunes J6 : chute du cabret, bassin paradis, bassin bleu, bains de dolé J7 : excursion à la journée aux Saintes J8 : Nord de grande terre : plage du souffleur, pointe de la grande vigie, anse laborde… (des avis sur des randos dans le secteur?) J9 : on termine le séjour par les plages de Sainte-Anne, du gosier, îlet gosier si ça vaut le cout d'y aller, et le mémorial acte dont on m'a dit du bien. J10 : retour en métropole.

nota : on a volontairement évité la pointe des châteaux, dont les paysages ont l'air de ressembler à notre chère Bretagne nota 2 : je sais que les secrets ne se partagent pas, mais trouver une petite source/cascade chaude isolée dans la forêt humide de basse terre serait un vrai plus 🙂 (en MP)
