Je pensais un peu Bretagne ou Massif Central...

Par contre j'aimerais éviter les axes trop fréquentés (surtout que ce serait en haute saison ) et préfère de loin les petites routes de traverses un peu oublié des camping car et autres mastodondes inodorants ...😠

D'autres part j'ai entendu parlé des voix vertes qui serait des sortes de pistes cyclables trans-région mais je n'en sais pas plus ...?

Alors si quelqu'un connait un itinéraire sympas, répondant à mes exigences 😇, je suis preneur ...

Bonjour aux connaisseurs de la Tunisie du nord qui prèfèrent les voyages non organisés.

je pars en famille et en voiture(kangoo)pendant un quinzaine de jour début juillet dans le nord de la Tunisie avec l'intention de visiter Tunis et ses grands environs(triangle Bizerte/cap bon/Hammamet/). Je recherche un hébergement assez central (me permettant des exursions d'une journée vers les sites à visiter en voiture). Je recherche donc un hotel ou camping (ombragé)le moins cher possible (rapport qualité/prix)de confort moyen, propre et calme et si possible permettant de par sa localisation de passer la journée sur place (proximité de la plage ou du centre ville) s'il n'y a pas d'exursion ce jour -là.

On veut aller à la Riviera Maya l'été prochain avec nos 2 ados de 13 et 15 ans. Avez-vous des suggestions d'hôtels dans le coin de Playacar et Playa del carmen.

On pense y rester 1 semaine et on voudrait être central pour profiter des meilleures activités de la Riviera Maya tout en profitant d'un beau site confortable et familial.

Le coin de Playa del Carmen semble pittoresque et assez central.

Salut 😉 Bonjour à tous! Je suis rentrée hier de Prague. Je vous livre donc mes impressions... Nous avons logé à l'hotel Kampa. Hotel 4 étoiles (je me serais bien contentée d'une auberge de jeunnesse. Mais bon...). L'hotel est très bien situé, central... à quelques mètres du pont Saint-Charles. Peut être (surement!) qu'une auberge de jeunnesse aurait été plus "vivante", dynamique!Ce que je trouve dommage, c'est qu'avec le français, on ne va nulle part. Si on n'a pas quelques notions d'anglaius, on est perdu!!! C'est fou! Même dans les restos, rares sont les menus en français. Tout est en tchèques, allemand et anglais. J'y suis allée hors saison et malgré ça, c'est plein de touristes: des petits vieux qui se croient tout permis, et des jeunes en voyage scolaire qui se foutent pas mal de ces visites! Je ne vous conseille pas de vous y rendre en pleine saison! C'est étrange mais il est très difficile, voire impossible, de trouver un snack pour manger un dago sur le chemin. La ville est pleine de resto à des prix très raisonnable. Le service y est, en général, assez expéditif. Je conseillerai de vous rendre à Prague avec un guide (un bouquin). La ville est un véritable musé à elle toute seule. Chaque maison a une histoire, une architecture particulière... Il est possible de tout faire à pied car tout est concentré et l'orientation y ets très aisée. Le Lonely Planet est très bien fait. Je ne connais pas le Routard! La ville est très belle. Le pont Saint Charles, le quartier juif, la place de la vieille ville, le chateau... Ce que je regrette, c'est de ne pas avoir vu un spectacle de marrionnette. Même si mon impression semble quelque peu négative, je me suis bien amusée à Prague. Ville magnifique mais ces 4 jours auront été fatiguants!!! Bon voyage à tous... Marie.

Je dois me rendre à Delhi en novembre pour un séjour de 5 semaines en Inde du nord. J'arrive 2 jours avant mon groupe et j'aimerais vraiment un petit hôtel propre avec salle de bain, central. Y a-t-il parmi vous des gens qui pourraient me conseiller sur le choix de mon hôtel? Je voudrais payer au maximum 60$CAN la nuitée mais pour une perle je suis prêt à payer jusqu'à 80$CAN.

PS. Je ne suis pas vraiment au courant des prix des hôtels à Delhi.

Je vais à Terre-Neuve à la fin de juin, début juillet. J'aimerais connaître les bons B&B ou chalets à louer dans la région du Parc du Gros Morne et dans la région Central. Nous y allons en avion de Montréal et nous louerons une auto. Est-ce qu'il y a des choses à voir absolument et dont on ne parle pas dans les guides touristiques.

After flipping through the LP guide, I’m still unsure about the best bases—I can’t quite picture the distances...

Option 1: Stay near Larnaca for 1 week and Paphos for the other. But from Larnaca, Cape Greco is doable. Wouldn’t it be better to stay near Cape Greco (Protaras?) instead? What about getting to Lefkara? Same from Paphos—easy to explore as far as Kourion.

Option 2: A single, more central base somewhere between Limassol and Larnaca.

I’ll fly into Faro, then rent a car and head toward the westernmost tip of the coast. First off, 12 days of great weather at the end of summer—my husband’s fleece jackets were totally unnecessary. We visited Vilnius, Riga, and Tallinn in that order, and it was a great tip. Vilnius is peaceful, very colorful, the food is delicious, street art is everywhere, and strolling through the historic center is really enjoyable. We stayed there for 2 nights. A 4-hour Lux Express bus ride was perfect for getting to Riga, where we spent 3 days. The city is a mix of medieval, Gothic, and Baroque art, with Orthodox churches and synagogues in the old town, plus an Art Nouveau district featuring the Rosenthal House. The central market looks austere and huge, facing the colorful walls of the tourist center—it’s a real pleasure to wander the cobblestone streets and taste the local cuisine, with its Germanic and Uzbek influences. In Tallinn, the highlight of the trip, we found Art Nouveau again, colorful walls, and a fitting reminder of the past at the Museum of Occupations. There’s a hipster district, a trendy area, stunning originality, and an unexpected maritime museum in its design. The city is at the cutting edge of technology, and the youth are everywhere. The welcome was friendly everywhere, and we’ll keep great memories of it.

We’re heading to Thailand with our four kids (ages 18, 17, 12, and 10) from August 3rd to 15th, 2026. I’ve been there twice before, but that was over 20 years ago, so I’m completely out of the loop !

We arrive in Bangkok on the morning of the 3rd and leave on the evening of the 15th.

Here’s our rough itinerary—I’d love your thoughts: 1 night in Bangkok on the 3rd (with a little sightseeing during the day), then the Grand Palace, reclining Buddha, and a floating market on the 4th. On the evening of the 4th, we take an overnight train to Chiang Mai. We’ll stay in Chiang Mai from the 5th to the 8th. On the evening of the 8th, we take an overnight train back to Bangkok. On the morning of the 9th, we head to Koh Samui. We’ll stay there from the 9th to the 12th, then return to Bangkok on the 13th. We’ll spend the afternoon of the 13th, the 14th, and the 15th in Bangkok before flying back to France 🙁.

So here are my questions: - Do you think this "itinerary is doable"? - Do you think it’s necessary to travel first class, or is second class with Air Co sufficient for the Bangkok to Chiang Mai trip? - Any recommendations for a great hotel with a pool, super central, so we can do most things on foot and visit the night market in Chiang Mai? - Any recommendations for a great hotel with a pool, super central, so we can do most things on foot and visit the night market in Bangkok? - Any recommendations for a great hotel with a pool, super central, so we can do most things on foot and visit the night market in Koh Samui?

First attempt at a travel journal for me and first post after 7 years away from this forum. 😮 I went to the island of La Palma for 15 days in September 2025. After visiting Lanzarote in February, I was looking for a different and greener island. Well, I wasn’t disappointed. 😎

We stayed in Breña Baja on the east coast of the island, 5 minutes from the airport. This choice was mainly motivated by the desire not to change accommodation during the stay and to be in a "central" location close to amenities. It worked out well, but if I were to do it again, I’d split the stay in two by getting another place in the north of the island to explore that area, which really appeals to me. Note that the island is "climatically divided in two": the west coast is sunnier and drier, while the east coast is often foggy or cloudy. It’s quite impressive when you come out of the LP-3 road tunnel connecting the two sides—you feel like you’ve changed regions even though it’s less than 3 km apart.

Flight options weren’t plentiful (no direct flights from France), so I went with Iberia, connecting in Madrid for 250 € round-trip per person excluding checked baggage (80 € round-trip for one 23 kg suitcase on this route). Make sure to buy the checked baggage at the same time as your flight, as it’ll cost about 15 € more if you add it later. I booked the tickets 5 months in advance directly on Iberia’s website. You could also take a low-cost airline to Tenerife or Gran Canaria and then a flight with a Canarian carrier, but in my opinion, that only makes sense if you’re visiting one of those islands first, as the connection isn’t "guaranteed." The ferry is an option from Tenerife (about 2.5 hours crossing).

Our departure from Lyon was initially scheduled for 6 AM but took off at 9 AM so the crew could rest after the late arrival of the previous flight. This let us grab breakfast on the airline’s dime—thanks, EU Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. 😉 Iberia took a week to reimburse me after I submitted my passport, receipts, and bank details via their online claim form.

Our small but spacious CRJ-1000 Air Nostrum Bye-bye, Bugey nuclear plant And hello, Madrid—or rather, its very dry region. Our layover was initially 4 hours but shrank to 1 hour due to the previous flight’s delay. That worked out for us because Terminal 4 at Barajas is way less comfortable for resting than Lyon’s T1.

Landing with a view of Playa de la Cangrejera and del Pozo. When I say the east coast is often cloudy... 😇 First sight of "plátano" plantations. Banana farming makes up 50% of the island’s GDP!

I’d love to know if any of you have recently eaten on the overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.

We’ve always ordered food on the train, and it was really good (and super convenient). But in 2022, we ended up feeling like total idiots (with our 4-year-old daughter...) when we boarded the train only to find out that this service was no longer available... (It was the first time we’d traveled right after COVID.)

That’s also when we saw once again how kind Thai people are—they all offered to share their food with us, even though we were mortified. In the end, we managed to buy some instant noodles, which was better than nothing. Anyway, that’s the little story behind it.

In the following years, we’ve always brought our own meals.

I’ve read online that meal trays are back in service (could you confirm this, please?), but that the quality is really poor. I’ve also seen multiple reports that, even though you can eat well everywhere in Thailand, the train meal was the worst food travelers had during their trip...

Could you give me a recent opinion on this? We’ll be departing from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station—do you know if there’s anywhere to buy a meal there before boarding the train?

I’m considering Cape Verde for an upcoming trip, but I’m wondering if it’s really doable, and if so, which areas would work. We prefer traveling on our own without going through agencies, and without a car to keep costs down. However, since we’re traveling with a baby and a young child, we don’t want to rely on the "usual tricks" like sleeping in a tent, hitchhiking, or walking for kilometers on end. Our walking limit is probably around 4 km max with the little one. Are there enough interesting spots where we can easily see and do things from a central point, walking no more than 4 km? Places with frequent buses to reach activities or sights?

My husband and I are heading to Thailand with our two boys on July 8th. We’ll be moving around: Bangkok (3 nights), Ayutthaya (1 night), Chiang Mai (4 nights), Koh Samui (4 nights), and Koh Phangan (3 nights). We have a flight from Koh Samui to Bangkok in the afternoon the day before our return to France, arriving around 5 PM in Bangkok (it’ll be a Friday). I’m still wondering where to stay in Bangkok for this last night in Thailand. Initially, I thought about booking a hotel near the international airport, but I figured there might not be much to do there... maybe we’ll want one last crowd-filled night at a food market? So, I considered booking a hotel near the metro instead, for easy access to the airport the next morning, while still being central enough to go out for our last evening before heading back to France.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this :-) And if you lean toward the second option, which neighborhood/hotel would you recommend?

Wednesday, November 15, 2023 Flight Cairns – Sydney Okay, let’s recap. We’ve traveled through Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland, and tonight we’ll be in New South Wales. We’ll even lose an extra hour—and a bunch of degrees! We’re on a flawless journey so far. One of our suitcases is almost two kilos overweight. The guy checking us in gives us a nice smile and decides to overlook the excess baggage fee.

A flight, for once, without a hitch, no delay (just half an hour…). Taxi… We discover our… room… We’ve got a suite like never before on this trip. It’s a posh apartment on the 7th floor—on cloud nine, really! We can’t believe it. 113.26 € per night! The Meriton Suites Mascot Central if you ever find yourself in this city… We even have a washing machine (and it works!). Such a change from the cabins in the west!



We don’t linger, though. We take the metro. Why? Well, yeah, we’re still kids at heart—off to the Opera House, of course!









Restaurant prices have doubled. Even tripled. We reluctantly settle for a pizzeria because that T-bone for 155 AUD (100 €)…

We know how to handle ourselves. There’s a Woolworths right downstairs. And we’ve got a kitchen, remember! And a terrace! We even have huge bats to brighten up our skies!

This time, we’re taking more time—about a month—with the following points of interest: Start of the trip with a few days in Tokyo Osaka International Exposition on October 11–12, 2025 Jidai Matsuri Festival in KYOTO on October 22, 2025 Karatsu Kunchi Festival from November 2–4 Our goal is to blend into the crowd and make connections in festive atmospheres. Do these stops sound interesting to you? Is it a good idea to stay in a central location between October 10 and 23 to get to the Osaka Expo and the Jidai Matsuri Festival in Kyoto using public transport, and to explore the region in between? Between Kyoto and the KARATSU Festival from October 23 to November 1, we’re thinking of traveling by shinkansen with a stopover for a few days to visit Hiroshima and the surrounding area. Looking forward to your thoughts if you have time—this is just a first draft, and we’d love to dive into more details.
