Je viens de consulter les images satelites en temps réel sur la RD et je suis trés inquiète. Jeanne est en train de frapper de plein fouet la baie de samana !😕 les vents sont plus faibles que pour yvan mais il risque quand même d'y avoir des dégâts. Espérons que ceux-ci ne soient que matériels.

Quelqu'un sait-il comment ça se passe après le passage d'un ouragan ? est-ce que les séjours sont systématiquement annulés ?

Que se passe-t'il en cas d'annulation ? est-ce qu'on nous propose une autre destination aux mêmes dates et au même prix ?😕

J'aimerais partir faire une croisiere en goelette en Turquie vers la mi-juin, mais je n'arrive pas a decider entre le circuit Bodrum/Baie de Marmaris avec iles d'Orak, etc... ou la croisiere a partir d'Antalya vers Olympos, Kekova et +.

Si quelque'un a deja fait l'une de ces croisieres, j'apprecierais des infos supplementaires pour faire mon choix. Si vous pouviez aussi préciser avec quel compagnie vous etes parti, ca me donnerait une idee.

nous voila débarqués à nosy-bé tout va bien, pas de retard dans les horaires, la douane nous a laissé passés. Dehors un manifique soleil. Même notre taxi est là. En route pour notre chambre dans une petite maison surplombant Hell-ville. Ce qui nous donne un magnifique point de vue sur toute la baie avec ses boutres qui naviguent sur une eau splendide. Mais à peine quelques heures après notre arrivée le ciel se couvre et une pluie fine commence à tombée. C'est à ce moment qu'un autre touriste nous informe de l'arrivée imminente du cyclone Galifo. Et efectivement dans la nuit les choses se sont aggravées une pluie diluvienne, avec un vent terrible balai l'île et le nord de Mada. Nous avons assisté pendant 24h de notre point de vue à la destruction de maisons, de voiture, d'antenne téléphone littéralement pliées par le vent, d'arbres arrachés. voila comment nous nous sommes retrouvé coincé sur nosy-bé pendant 4jours. Car plus aucun bateau ne prenait la mer. Et la route reliant diego-suarez au nord était détruite. Mais au bout du cinquième jours on nous a affirmé que tout allé bien et que diego était accessible par la route. Résultat au lieu de 5h de voiture nous avons mis 13h en changeant 3 fois de véhicules pour cause la route était coupé et même une fois un pont détruit, nous avons du traversé à pied avec sac à dos et valise à la main pour rejoindre l'autre côté. mais au moins nous avons eu la chance de monté, dans un mini van de 12 places normalement, à 28 personnes pendant 4h sans arrêt. Arrivé à diego toutes sorties touristique étant impossible à cause du passage du cyclone nous avons passé une semaine au bar. Et pour repartir, for de notre expérience voiture, nous avons choisi l'avion avec air mada. Sachez que leur ordinateur de réservation est toujours en panne et qu'ils vendent des billets sans savoir s'il y a des places ou non dans l'avion. Prévoir d'arriver tôt à l'aéroport surtout quand le vol est avancé d'une heure sans prévenir personne. et pour finir j'ai attrapé le palu et passé mais trois dernier jour à mada avec 40 de fièvres. Sans pouvoir me soigné à diego. Il a fallu que j'attende le quatrième jour de mon palu, c'est à dire jour de notre départ pour être soigné à l'arrivée à mayotte. Mais pas découragé j'y retourne en juillet.

personne ne parle jamais de cette baie dans les forums ou dans les guides.

Qu'en est-il vraiement de la vegetation de la qualitée des plages et surtout de la météo entre ces deux

endroits opposés de l'ile ?

I’m looking for tips from people who know this section well (Coutances → Regnéville-sur-Mer → Hauteville-sur-Mer → Bréhal → Granville → Genêts → bay crossing):

Budget-friendly accommodations: I’m struggling to find affordable stopover lodgings (a lot of what I find online are expensive vacation rentals, not really suited for a solo hiker). Hi there, I’ve found so many tips and reviews on this forum, so it’s my turn to contribute a little. We spent just over two weeks with our family, with the following itinerary: - Hanoi: 5 days - Halong Bay: 3 days and 2 nights - Tam Coc: 3 days - Mai Chau: 2 days - Sapa: 3 days We got around by bike, scooter, Grab, and bus. Our main accommodations were homestays and hotels in Hanoi. We visited lots of museums, temples, and neighborhoods in Hanoi. We did a 2-day, 1-night trek in Sapa with May, a Hmong local, without going through an agency. A few small regrets: the weather was overcast, and we couldn’t make it to Fansipan, but nothing major 😅. We also couldn’t find transport to get from Sapa to Mu Cang Chai. Other than that, this trip will stay in our memories for the kindness of the Vietnamese people, the connections we made, the food (street food, homestays...), the coffee 😋, the landscapes, and how easy it was to get around... Our goal was to take our time and focus only on a small part of northern Vietnam. If you need any tips or recommendations, don’t hesitate to ask. Looking forward to hearing from you. Cédric.

Has anyone been to this base camp in the Diego area towards the west coast (Mozambique Channel)? The trip starts from Diego Suarez by 4x4 and boat, with a visit to Nosy Hara and a few nearby islands. Possible big-game fishing and diving. Thanks in advance if anyone has info!

I couldn’t find any recent posts on this topic, so I thought I’d create a new one. We’ve just started planning our family trip to Vietnam this coming August. We’d like to travel from North to South, starting in Hanoi and ending in Ho Chi Minh.

Usually, we rent a car when we arrive and manage on our own. But I get the feeling that in Vietnam, it’s more complicated... It seems like the only option we have is to rent a car with a driver? Is that really the case?

I’m thinking of starting with a cruise in Halong Bay since we arrive on my partner’s birthday, and I wanted a beautiful setting to celebrate it. So, is the option of having a driver wait for 2 days while we’re on the cruise really feasible?

The rest of the itinerary isn’t planned at all yet. I’d love to hear your tips. We’re traveling from August 8th (morning) to the 26th (afternoon).

We’re making a family dream come true: spending a month in Brazil from July 19 to August 20. We’ll land in Rio and spend 6 days there (we’ve finalized a home exchange for a lovely apartment in the Copacabana neighborhood). After that, we’re heading to Minas Gerais by rental car for 11 days (Tiradentes, Ouro Preto, and the Inhotim Institute), then the Costa Verde, and finally 2 days in São Paulo.

We’ll be traveling with our three kids, ages 17, 14, and 9, who are real travelers and good hikers. Goes hand in hand, right? 😄

For now, we’ve planned to visit Ilha Grande (4 days) and then Paraty and its surroundings (3 days). What do you think? Ilha Grande appealed to us for its hikes and beaches, but couldn’t we do that along Paraty’s coast? I’ve read mixed reviews about Ilha Grande...

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka: Negombo – 1 night Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights Kandy – 2 nights Ella – 3 nights Tangalle – 6 nights Colombo Airport – 1 night

I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.

I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.

I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.

I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?

I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

Our 16-day backpacking trip (late June to mid-July 2026) focused on hiking and connecting with locals is starting to take shape, but I’d love your input. I’m torn between two routes: Option 1: A loop from Hanoi to Hanoi, starting with Bai Tu Long Bay, then Tam Coc, Mai Chau, Pu Luong, Mu Cang Chai, and the area around Sapa, before taking the train back to Hanoi. Hi fellow travelers! I’m planning a little 3-week trip to Vietnam in mid-to-late March. It’ll probably be the only time I can go. I enjoyed Thailand but clearly preferred Laos—it was calmer. For Vietnam, I don’t have a precise idea of what I want to see yet, and I’m the type to improvise a bit once I’m there. I’m not super adventurous but I’m curious, and I prefer street food over restaurants, markets and off-the-beaten-path villages over big attractions. But I don’t want to miss the must-sees either. So, given that I’ll only be there for 3 weeks, I’m wondering: should I absolutely stick to either the north or the south? Or is it possible to have a nice, not-too-hectic trip by spending, say, one week in the south and two in the north?... (I’d take a multi-city flight for arrival and departure) What do you think? So excited to be back on this forum of fellow travel enthusiasts to ask for advice about my upcoming two-week trip to Thailand in March 2026.

Given that it’ll be the start of the intense heat and burning season, I’m wondering about my itinerary, which would focus on the central/southern part of the country.

Ideally, I’d like a mix of relaxation in a nice setting, culture (temples or old palaces), and I’m keeping six days in Bangkok, which I love :)

I’m planning to get around by train, car (through an agency), or plane if it’s easier.

Option 1: HUA HIN – 3/4 days (day trips to PHETCHABURI + SAM ROI YOT + ARTISAN MARKETS) KANCHANABURI – 3/4 days NAKHON PATHOM – 1 day BANGKOK – 6 days

My doubts: -Will the sky be too hazy (from smoke) for good photos? -Will Kanchanaburi and its surroundings be less enchanting during this period (dry landscapes)?

Option 2: PHUKET (4 days): exploring the island + PHANG NGA Bay HUA HIN (3/4 days) BANGKOK (7 days)

My doubts: -How do I get from Phuket to Hua Hin? It seems like flying isn’t an option, and I’d have to take a long trip up the southern coast or return to Bangkok to catch the train. -Is Phuket even remotely pleasant during this ultra-touristy period? -Is Karon a good base for exploring Phuket?

Option 3: PHUKET KAO SOK SURAT THANI? BANGKOK

My doubts: -I’d like to add a destination with beautiful temples in this area, but maybe Surat Thani isn’t the best idea.

Option 4: SURAT THANI >> HUA HIN (6/7 days) BANGKOK

Doubts: -I’m worried this route might be too tiring if I have to move every two days.

I’m open to any tips—or even a completely different itinerary if you have other ideas.

The one I’ve chosen, which is often mentioned in this forum, suggests this itinerary, and I’d love to hear your thoughts: HANOI, arrival on 04/29/26, 2 nights BAC HA, 1 night HA GIANG, 1 night NAM DAM, 1 night DONG VAN, 1 night BAO LAC, 1 night BA BE, 1 night HANOI, 1 night NINH BINH, 2 nights HALONG BAY (BAI TULONG), 1 night HUE, 2 nights HOI AN, 3 nights SAIGON, 1 night CAN THO, 1 night SAIGON, 1 night I’d like to know if the stop in Nam Dam is worth staying overnight or if we should just visit and continue to Dong Van. Hi there, We’re heading to Quebec from July 7 to 21 with our two kids (ages 5 and 7) and my wife, and we’re putting together an itinerary while keeping some flexibility (though much less than we’d hoped, since we’re realizing accommodations are already filling up fast!). Below is our draft plan—pretty far along since we’ve booked 9 out of 14 nights—but it’s definitely not perfect. We’d love some advice on what to do after Parc du Bic (3 nights to improvise) before heading back to Parc Omega, where we’ve booked a tipi :-) It seems clear that a 3-day Gaspésie loop isn’t doable (too bad about Percé and Parc Forillon, but I think we’re already covering a lot of ground with this route!). But what about the option of driving up to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts to spend a day in Parc de la Gaspésie before the (long) drive back, and still enjoying part of the coastal road, which looks stunning?
