Countries & travel experience

Hello,

my name is Gaelle, born in the south west of France 33 years ago. I grew up as a single child in a quiet environment, close to nature, I was studious at school, graduated high school, went to university to learn geography, then to a tourism school to specialize in the job of local tour guide... I could have done a real great career but the truth is, something was terribly missing.... Travelling and learning languages.

For me, travels = nomad life = freedom

I made several different jobs during the last 10 years: 1 year working in Paris for a travel agency, 1 year working in Andorra and French Alps in ski resorts as a photographer/shop-girl, 5 years working in Toulouse for a French mobile operator in a call centre... This last experience proved me that I was not made for the sedentary life.

In October 2015, I decide to quit my job to focus on 2 of my passions in life: travelling and photography. My plan is to build my own photography business in Tenerife, Canary Islands.

Why Tenerife?

1st, I want to learn Spanish, 2nd, volcanology and geology are my other passions, 3rd, I can combine photography and geology for my works, which is very important for me.

After one year and a half at home of building my own photography website (with WordPress), training on Adobe' softwares (Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), working on events as freelance photographer, I took my survival kit (camera/laptop/flight ticket/passport/bag-pack) to start a new adventure with the Chicharreros (inhabitants of Tenerife).

On June 24th 2017, when I arrived in Tenerife, I realized something (very!) important: without the local language, any of my project will happen. And then, I changed my mind, realizing that a business in Tenerife is the same sedentary life I tried to escape in France, but under the sun throughout the year.

Almost 1 year and a half later, I'm still in Canary Islands, but on Gran Canaria, very close to Tenerife, since 6 months. The first 3 months, I was working in the historical centre of Las Plamas de Gran Canaria, in a hostel, as indoor designer (which is another passion...) Since the past 20th of may, I'm working in a finca, where we do some bio agriculture and we also host guests in hostel dorms and rural houses, in a real natural paradise in the middle heights of the island.

I'm now almost fluent in Spanish, which was my first goal.

Now, I want to sail towards Cabo Verde until Americas in several months (it would be my dream)

This was a short summary of my intrepid life.
