Entry Requirements and Visa for Moldova

For French Citizens

French nationals do not need a visa for stays of less than 90 days per semester; a valid passport or national identity card is sufficient. Note that an entry stamp is issued upon arrival and must be kept until departure, as it is used to verify the actual length of the visitor’s stay in the country.

Long Stays

In Case of Violation

Overstaying the permitted duration may result in a fine and a three-year entry ban. Similarly, the absence of a "Moldovan entry stamp" (especially if arriving from Transnistria) can cause issues.

Arrival via Transnistria

This long, narrow territory between Moldova and Ukraine declared independence in 1990 but is not recognized by any country. Arriving in Moldova via Transnistria (thus from Ukraine) means no "Moldovan entry stamp" will be issued. As a result, travelers have 72 hours to regularize their status with Moldovan authorities.
