European Russia

By far the most visited part of the country and the easiest, with its must-see destinations such as Saint Petersburg, Moscow, and the Golden Ring of Russia, which allows you to discover a rich historical heritage on the outskirts of the capital, some beautiful natural areas (particularly toward the Arctic Circle), two renowned rivers popular with cruise-goers—the Neva and the Volga—not to mention a Black Sea coast long recognized nationally for its climate and seaside resorts, foremost among them Sochi.
Asian Russia

A different world and a different kind of travel compared to the "European" part of Russia. Here, you’re in vast open spaces, extreme temperatures, the Trans-Siberian Railway, and cultures and populations much closer to China, for example, than to Europe. Caucasus

A vast region, surely one of the most culturally and naturally fascinating, but unfortunately plagued by unrest and near-permanent insecurity for decades across much of its territory. In short, whether it’s Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan, or the other local autonomous republics, travel is strongly discouraged.
Crimea

First Russian, then Ukrainian for 60 years starting in 1954, Crimea was largely annexed by Russia in 2014 following a local referendum, though this annexation has not been internationally recognized.
