Entry Requirements and Visa for Turkey
Location Map of Turkey
People
For French Citizens
For tourist travel, French nationals do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within any 6-month period. A passport or even an ID card that is valid for at least 5 months from the date of entry is sufficient.
Other Nationalities
The same applies to visitors from the European Union, Canada, Switzerland, and many other nationalities.
Long Stays
Whether for tourism or other purposes, it is possible to apply for a longer stay in Turkey. For tourism, you can generally obtain authorization for 6 months to 1 year after submitting a dossier that includes proof of income.
In Case of Violation
As is often the case, overstaying may result in a fine or deportation with a ban on re-entering the country if the overstay exceeds 3 months. However, since extending your stay legally is relatively straightforward, it’s best to avoid such issues.
Vehicles
It is easy to travel to Turkey with your own vehicle. You simply need a green card, the vehicle registration document, and a French or other European driving license. Additionally, you must not have stayed in Turkey for more than 6 months in the previous 12 months. After that, you can drive in the country for up to 2 years without paying import taxes.
