One of France's smallest departments, its tourist appeal is overwhelmingly centered on the city of Lyon, one of the country's most beautiful cities. The Beaujolais region, north of the Lyon conurbation, also holds some interest—not just for its vineyards.
Overview of the Rhône

What to see in the Rhône
One of France's smallest departments ("reformed" in 2015), its tourist appeal is overwhelmingly centered on the city of Lyon, one of the country's most beautiful cities. The Beaujolais region, north of the Lyon conurbation, also holds some interest—not just for its vineyards.
What to do in the Rhône
Climate and weather
The Rhône has a semi-continental climate with alternating influences from Mediterranean, continental, and oceanic climates. Winters are quite harsh (sometimes severe frosts, frequent fog, and occasional snowfall), while summers are hot and sunny. The Rhône Valley, due to its configuration, is also prone to wind and summer thunderstorms.
