Phuket Island has numerous beaches, primarily along its west coast, which remain the main attraction for many visitors.

  • Bang Tao Beach: one of the longest on the island, also home to one of Phuket’s major hotel complexes.
  • Kamala: a long beach north of Patong, relatively quiet, with surfing opportunities among other activities.
  • Karon: a long and wide beach (5 km) with hotel complexes in the background, popular with families. It’s one of the island’s main seaside areas.
  • Kata Beach: actually two beaches with opportunities for water activities, including diving.
  • Laem Sing: near Surin, this pretty beach offers all the "activities and services" tourists might expect, though it’s not the most crowded on the island.
  • Mai Khao: a beach close to the airport.
  • Nai Harn: a small, fairly quiet beach surrounded by hills, not far from Cape Promthep.
  • Nai Thon: along with its neighbor Nai Yang, these are two quiet spots in Phuket’s northern part.
  • Patong: Phuket’s lively and festive town also has several beaches (Kalim, Paradise, etc.).
  • Surin Beach: the small village and its stunning beach have become quite upscale, with prices to match.
