What to See and Do in the Caribbean

Main Trends

Nature and Adventure

While the natural beauty of the Caribbean—especially its stunning beaches—is undeniable, the region isn’t particularly grand or dramatic. It’s also not a top destination for adventure seekers or outdoor enthusiasts, who will find little beyond what traditional beach resorts offer.

Culture

Most islands have preserved the culture and local traditions of their populations, and sometimes those of their colonizers. However, aside from Cuba and Dominican Republic, almost none boast a significant historical heritage. In short, discovering the Caribbean’s culture often comes more through its people and traditions than through tangible landmarks.

Relaxation and Vacation

Beaches, diving, strolls, cruises, all-inclusive resorts, honeymoons—this is the Caribbean’s strong suit, if not its defining feature. Nearly every island caters to a specific type of traveler and nationality.
