Ferries

Saint Lucia is served by two ferry companies that connect to three neighboring islands: Martinique, Dominica, and Guadeloupe with its dependencies. For reference: the daily Saint Lucia–Martinique route takes roughly 1 hour 30 minutes, while the weekly trips to Dominica take four hours, and to Guadeloupe, six hours.

  • L'Express des Iles: This is the "historic" company operating in the region for about 30 years, holding a monopoly on certain routes. Its lines follow the Saint Lucia–Martinique–Dominica–Guadeloupe axis, allowing various combinations between these islands at 80 € one-way or 120 € round-trip.
  • West Indies: A small company offering roughly 2-hour trips between Saint Lucia and Le Marin in Martinique. Check locally for details.

However, there are no regular boat routes from Saint Lucia to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines or Barbados (nor from anywhere else).

Cargo

Cruises

The Caribbean is the world’s top cruise destination, and nearly every island—including Saint Lucia—is featured in numerous cruise itineraries. The port of Castries is practically a must-visit in the region. You’ll find plenty of options, typically 7- to 10-day cruises that include a stop here. Many of these cruises are American-operated.

Sailboats

Saint Lucia attracts many sailors, especially from November to May, arriving from Europe, North America, and the rest of the Caribbean. The island has several marinas, the main one located in the north at Rodney Bay. One- or two-day sailing trips between Martinique and Saint Lucia are also a classic in the region.
