Jamaica: Climate and Weather
Climate Overview
Jamaica has a tropical climate, with hot (average 30/32°C) and humid weather that becomes milder at higher altitudes, where the climate is more temperate. The rainy season runs from May to October, with two peaks in May-June and October, but it is less significant than on other islands in the region. Rain typically falls in short showers and is heavier on the north and especially the northeast coast than in the south. August to October is also hurricane season, which can affect the island.
Best Time to Visit Jamaica
While the climate is never truly prohibitive, the period from November to April remains the best time to visit Jamaica. The heat is less intense, and humidity is lower.
