Costa Rica is overwhelmingly a Catholic country, with nearly three-quarters of the population identifying as such, and 15% as Protestant. It is also home to the largest Buddhist community in Central America (2% of the population), originating from various Asian countries, as well as one of the region’s largest Muslim communities (0.5%), following the arrival of immigrants from the Middle East.
