By North American standards, Panama is considered an excellent destination for those wanting to spend their retirement abroad. Beyond the environment, the cost of living, the widespread use of English among Panamanians, and even the history, all the measures taken by the local government in recent years to attract investors and retirees mean the country has a significant number of Canadian and especially American residents. However, there are relatively few Europeans, and particularly few French, among these retirees.
