Climate

South America's climate is logically varied due to the continent's latitudinal range (in other words, "its length"). Broadly speaking, the northern part (up to the middle of Brazil) lies in an equatorial zone with a rainy season (roughly November to April) and a dry season; the climate there is hot and humid. In the southern part, the climate is more distinct, with an austral winter and summer (reversed compared to Europe), resulting in different average temperatures depending on the season. Of course, altitude plays a significant role in climatic conditions and precipitation.
