Nature-Adventure

Like other Andean countries, Peru, with its volcanoes, high plateaus, Amazon rainforest, and Pacific coastline, has all the assets of a nature destination where outdoor activities are also plentiful.

Culture

Undoubtedly, Peru is the Latin American country offering the broadest range in terms of culture, traditions, and especially heritage. Whether it's pre-Columbian ruins—with Machu Picchu leading the way—testimonies of the Spanish colonial era (Arequipa, Lima’s historic center...), or the life and traditions of the diverse local populations in the Andes or the Amazon, the options are vast and ideal for multiple trips.

Relaxation-Holidays

Though not the traditional image of tourism in Peru, the country has been developing a more "relaxation-holiday" style of tourism in recent years, with beach resorts, high-end accommodations in tourist sites, lodges in the Amazon rainforest, and recreational or wellness-focused activities. In short, the destination is diversifying and perhaps trying to attract a new audience with a fresh image. Still, the vast majority of visitors clearly come to the country for other reasons, and these "new offerings" remain, for many, just a possible addition to an active and usually packed stay.

Independent Travel

Since security in the country has improved, Peru has become a relatively easy destination to travel, not requiring extensive experience—though a few precautions are still advisable in some areas or cities like Lima. Infrastructure and facilities are generally good, with plenty of options in the "backpacker" range and above, as well as numerous and quality transport options if you're willing to spend a little. In short, it's a destination for beginner travelers or those with minimal experience.

Cordillera Blanca, Pérou

It’s the main destination offered by agencies for Latin America. The range of options is substantial, focusing on "nature-adventure" or ecotourism circuits, with trekking and mountaineering as specialties for some providers. In short, there’s plenty of choice, along with an increasing number of customizable and personalized packages to prepare before departure. Note that while foreign tour operators are numerous, local professionals, which you can check out on-site, are also abundant.
