Entry Requirements and Visa for Bolivia
People
For French Citizens
For tourist travel, no visa is required for stays of less than 3 months. A passport valid for 6 months after the entry date is sufficient. The stamp placed in your passport upon arrival in the country marks the start of your stay. Additionally, it is now necessary to complete an online customs form on the approved site by the authorities no later than two days before arriving in Bolivia.
Other Nationalities
The same applies to Canadians, Swiss nationals, citizens of the European Union, and a few other nationalities.
Long Stays
For any stay exceeding three months, a specific visa must be requested from the Bolivian consulate before departure. Once in Bolivia, this visa allows you to begin the process of obtaining "residency" within one month, valid for one year and renewable.
In Case of Violation
If your stay exceeds the authorized duration, you risk a fine upon departure. This fine amounts to a few euros per day of overstay.
Vehicles
If entering Bolivia with a motorized vehicle, you must request a temporary import permit from customs via their website or directly at the border crossing you use. The process is free and grants a 3-month stay, extendable up to six months. Note that in Bolivia, fuel is sold at different prices depending on whether the vehicle is Bolivian or foreign.
