When and Where to Go in Norway
Best Times to Visit Norway
Finding the best time to visit involves balancing climate constraints with crowd levels and the most attractive prices for travel and on-site expenses.
June to early August is the best climatic period to explore the country, enjoy long days, nature, and outdoor activities. Logically, this is also peak season, with crowds—especially in July, the most popular month for visitors. However, this pressure is fairly localized (primarily in the fjord region), and it’s always possible to find many interesting, less crowded spots across the country. Given the climate constraints, June to early August is still the recommended period. For those who want to experience winter, December to March is ideal.
