Accommodation in Albania
FR

Overview of the offer

As you might expect, the capital and the coastal tourist areas have the best and largest accommodation capacity, with hotels of varying quality, rentals, campsites, and homestays. Given the prices (sometimes even quoted in euros), the overall value is quite good, even though water and electricity cuts are fairly common. As usual in peak season, it’s a good idea to book the best places in summer.

Note that inland or in the mountains, accommodation options are more limited, though you can still find homestays.

Hotels

With the growth of coastal tourism, the number and quality of hotels have increased, especially compared to the old Soviet-style hotels the country used to have. Of course, the change is most visible by the sea, while inland, things are a bit different and capacity is more limited. Overall, the offer—aside from a few rare high-end places—is very affordable, with doubles costing 15 € to 25 € for budget establishments or 25 € to 40 € if you want something better.

Youth Hostels

The hostel scene is gradually developing in the country, particularly in the capital. You can sleep in a dorm (around 10 €) or in a double room for roughly the same price as modest hotels (or a bit more in Tirana).

Camping

As tourism has grown, campsites have sprung up along the coast, with varying quality depending on the location. Expect to pay between 12 € and 15 € on average per night for two people, plus tent and car. As for wild camping, it’s officially prohibited.

Homestays

Like much of the Balkans, Albania offers homestays. Generally, the rooms provide good value for money, with prices ranging from 15 € to 20 € for a double, depending on the location and season.

Which accommodation to choose?

Mid-range hotels and homestays often turn out to be the best options.
