Entry Requirements and Visa for Canada
People
For travel with a tourist purpose.
For French Citizens
No visa is required for a stay of less than six months. The passport must be valid for the entire duration of the stay, and a return or onward ticket as well as proof of financial means are required.
All visitors arriving or transiting by air in Canada must, however, obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) via the official Government of Canada website (no need to go through an intermediary). This form must be completed online before departure, with a fee of $7 CAD. In most cases, approval is nearly immediate. The eTA is then valid for 5 years.
Other Nationalities
The same applies to Belgians, Swiss nationals, citizens of the European Union, and a few other nationalities.
Arrival by Land or Sea
An eTA is not required if arriving in Canada by land or sea.
