Health and Safety in Canada

Official Recommendations

In France, both for individuals and professionals, the "travel advice" from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding precautions for each country has legal value. A similar online travel advice system exists in several countries:

Health

No vaccinations are mandatory to enter the country. However, it is always best to be up to date with basic vaccines.

Diseases and Hygiene

Canada does not pose significant health risks, and the main concerns are diseases transmitted by mosquitoes, such as Lyme disease and West Nile virus. It is important to apply a good insect repellent to your skin and clothing.

Local Health Infrastructure

Local health facilities are excellent, but wait times in emergency rooms can be excessive. It is also essential to have travel insurance before departure, as foreign travelers must cover their own medical expenses, which can be very costly. In case of a medical emergency, dial 911.

Safety

Crime and Delinquency

Overall, Canada is a safe country and poses no issues for travelers. The crime rate is very low. Naturally, it is still wise to use common sense and take necessary precautions to prevent the theft of valuables or important documents.
