Getting to East Africa
By air
From Europe
From elsewhere in Africa
Other
Overland
For security reasons (DRC, Somalia, and others) and sometimes closed borders, options for arriving in the region are limited. In the north, while the North Sudan-Ethiopia-Kenya route is theoretically possible, it is strongly discouraged. Therefore, the south offers a feasible overland route, also doable by public transport. This allows connecting Southern Africa to East Africa via a Zambia-Tanzania crossing along the Trans-African Highway 4, which links Cairo to Cape Town.
