Entry Requirements and Visa for Namibia
Location Map of Namibia
People
For tourist travel purposes.
For French nationals
No visa required for stays of less than 90 days, but a passport valid for at least 6 months after the planned departure date from the country and with at least two blank pages. A return or onward ticket may sometimes be required. If arriving from a country with a risk of yellow fever, a yellow fever vaccination certificate is also mandatory.
Important: For those traveling with family and passing through South Africa, it is important to know that South African authorities now require children to have an individual birth certificate translated into English and certified.
Other nationalities
The same applies to nationals of around forty countries, including Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Canada.
Long stays
Restricted areas
The Oranjemund region in the far southwest, near the South African border, is diamond-rich. Access is highly regulated, as is crossing the border between the two countries in this area. Similarly, some park areas (off the beaten track) also require prior authorization and a permit.
In case of violation
The Namibian government is very strict about the entry and permitted stay duration for foreign visitors. If the legal stay duration is exceeded, offenders may face arrest, detention, and a court appearance resulting in deportation and a heavy fine.
