For tourist travel purposes.
For French Citizens
No visa required for stays of less than 90 days (or sometimes less at the discretion of customs authorities), but a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the planned departure date from the country is mandatory. A return or onward ticket may sometimes be required. If arriving from a country with a risk of yellow fever, a yellow fever vaccination certificate is also generally required.
Minors:
For families traveling with children, it’s important to note that, following South African authorities in 2015 (until the measure was abolished at the end of 2019), Botswana has required since late 2016 that minors present an individual birth certificate translated into English and certified (see details on France Diplomatie).
Other Nationalities
The same rules apply to citizens of most European Union countries, Switzerland, or Canada. In total, visitors from nearly 70 countries are visa-exempt.
