Location Map of Belize
Population
Belize is a multi-ethnic society where different populations that have shaped its history coexist and blend. In the end, one in two Belizeans is Mestizo, one in four is Creole, and the country is also home to minorities such as Garifuna, descendants of the Maya, Chinese, Indians, and Whites, including a large community of German-speaking Mennonites in the northern part of the country, who alone represent 4% of the population. Additionally, while over 150,000 Belizeans live abroad—primarily in the USA and England—the country has seen the arrival in recent decades of populations fleeing conflicts in El Salvador or Guatemala.
